No, people who were douche-bags (or young and stupid enough to be the equivalent of a douche-bag) in the 90s care for Duke. Also, it's clear from all the marketing that Gearbox expects modern-day douche-bags to gravitate toward Duke Nukem. The things that nerds liked about Duke Nukem were the creative weaponry, exploration-based levels, and inventive multiplayer. (that leveraged the wacky arsenal in fun and interesting ways) The things that douche-bags like about Duke Nukem are his misogynistic attitude, crude humor, and one-liners. This new incarnation seems to feature far too much of the latter, and far too little of the former.

Holy crap, sorry I like Duke Nukem you guys. I hope you'll take my word when I say that I'm a decent person in real life and not a douche bag... Next time I'll just stay out of a dukescussion.

ugh please let's not turn this into a discussion about the "social implications" of a ridiculous over-the-top videogame about shooting aliens.

Duke Nukem (3D)'s strength was that you had both - without one or the other it wasn't going to have had the influence it did. In other words, nerds jumped on the chance to play the douche-bag hero which was a nice change from all the righteous/brooding roles of most games.

Next time I'll just stay out of a dukescussion. the lack of holding more than one weapon caused this, why didn't Gearbox make Dukerlands. four player Co-op with one liners and randomize Super weapons.

duke nukem is not a man. duke nukem is a product of men. more to the point, he is a product of men with pony tails.

It's sad, I clicked on a link to your commercial and had to watch a commercial before I could watch the commercial for the game that I wanted to see. Advertising is layering, we are all doomed.

My biggest disappointment was that a prime opportunity was wasted to lampoon the political career of Arnold Schwarzenegger. They could have had Duke Nukem wearing a 3-piece suit at the beginning of the game, and serving as the mayor of Las Vegas. He could have been on his way to a press conference instead of a talk show.
Given that he was originally a spoof off of 80's action heroes it seems like an obvious story progression. Use this skip forward in time to show how aging action stars are seen today. They could have even thrown in a "buddy" NPC character who could have served as a spoof off of modern action movie heroes. (where everything is grim and gritty, and there's too much shaky-cam)
It just seems to me that this iteration of Duke is severely lacking in imagination.

I have yet to read the reviews or play the game, but it sounds like Duke Nukem Forever lived up to my expectations completely.

I've never played a Duke Nukem game and I kinda wanted this to be good, seemed way more interesting to me than the typical FPS. Oh well, it's not like I was going to buy it anyway.

Duke Nukem Forever is like an aged beauty model. When asked about her age, she doesn't quite know for which part of her body she's supposed to answer that. Sure! Nice enough on the outside, still better than most but you can just see the seams here and there from when someone tried to fix things that weren't broken to begin with - just aged.

Aw, I'd still hit it. - ///☢WARNING☢/// ///☢WARNING☢/// SOMEONE IS GOING TO SAY THEY FIND DUKE NUKEM FUNNY ///☢WARNING☢/// ///☢WARNING☢/// I actually don't mind Duke Nukem's humor. It's very unobtrusive, which is something that you don't see much in video games. I know that today, everyone is bombarded with his soundbites, but he isn't exactly that mouthy in the game. He'll say something in a secret area, or make a comment at a scripted event, or have a line before a level. But at the end of the day, all they were doing was occasionally throwing out a film reference once or twice per level while you were much more concerned with playing the game. It was fun to go to places like bars, or strip clubs, or porno theaters and fight in there. It was a refreshing pace from the hellscapes and military installations that other games had. Of course, Duke Nukem had that as well, but it knew when it was time to break it up by going someplace new. Watching the first level of Duke Nukem to refresh my memory, Duke Nukem says... "Damn, those alien bastards are going to pay for shooting up my ride." "Come get some." "Cool." "I'm gonna get medieval on your ass." "Damn."WOAH DUKE GET YOUR CRAZY MISOGYNISTIC MOUTHY ASS OUT OF MODERN GAMING I think Duke Nukem got the Star Trek 2009 treatment, where a product was made that used the public's image of the characters from the original source material instead of the character.

Woah, ad-block plus can stop those 30 second intro videos that stream in before the actual video you want to watch?
