What are peoples strategies for quality assurance?

We've been doing it "in house" but too often that has meant that we focus too much on new features then madly scramble to fix bugs just before release... even "fixing" bugs on the day of release which is obviously a terrible way of doing things.

I'd like to outsource. Does anyone have any pro-tips on this? Is it wiser to seek out a specialist mobile company for ios/android testing or is it reasonable to go with a regular software QA outfit?

What's better... grabbing a dozen university students and paying them in pizza or outsourcing to India or the USA for specialist testing?

Also: I'm not seeking anyone to post QA offers here. No spam please. If you like, you can email me tomkillen~at~thevoxelagents~dot~com if you provide such services.

By means of rigorous testing and experimentation we've found that giving a couple poor math majors a box of pizza is both the most cost efficient and the most effective method of QA. Feeding them the pizza at the time of QA testing, or "game testing", appears to result optimally. Their mathematical background offers them a significant scientific advantage which makes them, undoubtedly, the best choice for the job.

Also: our extensive market research has indicated that "feature list" length and sales are directly proportional. This is a phenomenal market breakthrough, and I encourage you and your colleagues to continue pushing as many features into your products as possible. Bugs have proved significantly less important to users than a laundry list of features on the app purchase page.
