The game I'm working on at the moment is a puzzle platformer. I want to have 50 unique puzzles and I'm on about 20 ideas, 15 made. Two things are making this endeavor hard;

Firstly, unlike other platform puzzlers like Trine, I don't really have any puzzle elements innately there at all times (like Trine's 3 different characters with abilities).

Secondly, I want all my puzzles to have some kind of real world basis. For example, I couldn't have a tetris section, but I could have a "Tertris'd" one. http://www.playtetrisgames.org/tetrisd.html

I've been playing Trine 2 and Skyrim lately and while they have some nice puzzles in, but I feel it's locked my mind into physics engine only puzzles. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for games to play for inspiration?

Thanks for reading.

You want too much.

Why do you want puzzles?

DRoD series is great to play for puzzle ideas. There are a lot of elements in the game, but so many people have created so many unique puzzles over the years for them.

Aw, beated me; should probably note that we'll soon have more elements to play with, thanks to upcoming DROD 4.0! Smiley

Check out Mario vs. Donkey Kong for GB and GBA. (two different games, forget name for GB one). They're probably best puzzle platformers I've ever played!
