Hi forum,
Recently my brain has filled itself with an idea, which I plan to begin bringing into the material world quite soon.

I had the idea of a game that starts itself with someting like "After years of squabbling between the clans of this region, your family have emerged as the rulers of several small villages and your reign has begun!"

The game would be an RTS type-game, with a randomly generated world. The game begins in what I could best describe as an anglo-saxon britain timeframe where you rule over about 5 small settlements with a small population. You will have a treasury which contains money, and a window displaying the amounts of resources floating about in your country (wood, stone, food etc...)

From here time will pass and hopefully through the right decisions you will fuel economic development in your country. You could order minions to explore beyond the villages through the fog of war and perhaps find new resources (iron, limestone). With more resources and people moving away from subsistance farming markets will develop and soon after so will the economy of your country (and more tax £££ for you!!)
Your population will grow and some of the villages that are more advantaged (close to a quarry, or the sea) will grow into towns. Discovering new resources will ramp up the "science skill" of your country so new resources can be mined, efficiency of operations will increase, all the stuff in a real life setting that science discoveries increase.
You could build armies and pwn the other tribes/nations in the world to aquire new riches and citizens.

The point of this game is that I wanted to create an analog for the earth's real countries where you are the ruler. At the industrial revolution stage of your nation private industries would develop more and you can go down the route of capitalism or socialism (not through some dialog box "What government do you chose?" but through the way you treat your people and what you do with your leadership)
At the point where the natural resources of your world are running out the other nations may cause wars for ownership of them. When real-life situations like global warming and rainforest destruction begin to occur you will have to decide how to deal with them.

I was wondering what your feedback may be, and if there is a game already like this out there (i'm an RPG man, I dont know Grin) The stuff i've been figuring out is way more then I could write here so if you would like to know more about the economy management aspects, ai and other stuff i'll happily tell you.

Would you play this game and is it worthwhile to make it?

 Thanks for your time!
Live long and prosper.
