About This Game

Dive into the post-apocalyptic world of Bifrostia, populated by two mutant races as well as their robot assistants. The first
Act takes place in the rusted city of Ilgrot, under the rule of an artificial intelligence. Strange things are happening there.

One regular day we discover a space shuttle with a mysterious robot inside. You will have to escape the city,
uncover the robot’s origins, why it is getting hunted and what is happening.

Plunge into the adventure quests with puzzles and mini-games.

It’s a new stylized world with an illustrative atmosphere of retrofuturism, with hand painted 3D locations.

Enjoy the relaxing ambient soundtrack by Alexander Zhelanov with cyberpunk elements.

We are improving  game levels now. In our opinion the result justifies all delays.
An example of the quality of rendering, before and after:

What do you guys think about this?

Finished working on the illustration for second level.
Text will be placed next to the image to complement the game story. This is for the level loading screen.

Hey everybody we just released an alpha v1.0.0 of Mechanic 8230. If you found a bug in the development version, please let us know about it. We’re looking forward to receiving your feedback about our project! We can improve the Mechanic 8230 together!

Extract the archive and run the start_game file. If the game does not start, try extracting the archive in another section. To start the game in the window, the file start_game_window is provided.

Updates:

— The game menu now opens with the mouse pointing;
— All actions in the game are now performed with the mouse keys;
— Ability to enter a level code for quick access to a specific level;
— Realize a new screensaver;
— Add text for different things: script, dialogue, tooltips, etc.;
— Implement linear dialogs;
— Improving the design of levels, characters, etc. A lot of work has been done and we are very pleased with the results;
— Updating the main menu: art, design, animation, improved settings, effects;
— Creating splash screens while loading levels;
— Optimized:

    1. If it necessary you can use lod optimization;
    2. Occlusion;
    3. Converting textures to dds format;
    4. All textures are translated into sizes with a power of two;
    5. Clearing animations from unnecessary keys;
    6. Use only diffuse texture;
    7. Whenever possible use an alpha channel based on black;
    8. Cleaning materials from physics;
    9. Clearing objects from shadows(only necessary objects accept or reject them).

— Convenient switching of screen resolution;
— An outline is added when hovering over drop-down objects;
— Fixed a large number of errors;
— Added various new sounds for different actions;
— The scenario has been worked out better;
— Improved and added new animations. Now the chain of events is much better traced;
— All 10 levels have been started, only their completion remains;
— Improved puzzles and hints. Now they are more logical and justified;
— Improved localization in English and Russian;
— Adding an executable file to run in the window;
— Now by default, there is a save file with default settings;
— A large number of errors found by our subscribers and others have been taken into account and corrected. Also, many of your tips have helped improve the game and become an integral part of it! We are very grateful for this!

This looks really interesting, the visuals look very unique!

I tried out the demo and it was pretty good (I finished it). A few comments:

- really liked the atmosphere and setup (world building/ fiction etc) - it made me want to know more
- the puzzles were generally pretty good/intuitive and felt the right level of hard/logical

Probably my only real criticism is it lacked some tiny bits of 'polish' which actually would go a long way to increasing the immersion:

- confirmation when you successfully use an item (comment/sound) - at the moment nothing happens....
- it was pretty confusing when the helmet/pda was introduced. what are the helmet/eye augmentations for? I wasn't sure. Again, I think some sort of comment from the main character or text in the PDA would really help

but overall this looks really promising - nice job!

Thanks for your comments and advice!

- It's interesting  and we will take it into account in future updates!

- At first we had an explanation, but in the demo we removed it temporarily as we were not fully sure how everything would be used. These are technical issues.

We want to improve the dialogues and at the same time increase  intuitiveness. Something else will change and probably until release.

Available Alpha v1.0.1: nudiventra.itch.io/mechanic8230. Fixed Alpha 1.0.0 bugs where possible and take into account your tips and opinions.

Updates:
— Added display of a character entering the room in the form of a shadow (in cases when the door is frontal. (Idea by Alexo Mandini);
— A hint that appears at the beginning of the game, informing the player that he can only hold one object in his hand. ( Tip from Airat Muhametdinov);
— Changed some puzzles in the first level and added sounds of "events" (these changes are implemented based on  Exooman advices);
— In the main menu in the settings added the option to enable dubbing, taking into account the selected language (not recommended to use because of poor quality, and moreover, it works only in first level);
— Some animations have been finalized;
— Fixed many bugs found as a result of testing (from what we did);
— Added sounds for confirmation when you successfully use an item(Suggestions from RichSG).

Thank you all for playing the game and writing your opinion about it!
