Hi, I'm Chris.

I am a dedicated freelance programmer specializing in the design of complex game systems such as engines, update loops and animation blending.

I am a 2D specialized programmer at present and do not have any Unity experience yet. However, I do have:
  • Experience with Game Maker and GML
  • Experience with Phaser, pixi.js and various HTML5 technologies
  • Experience with Node.js and setting up webservers
  • Experience (more recently) with custom game engine architecture and design (see my old topic in the technical subform detailing my exploits in the good ol' days), currently lacking documentation. Creating game technology from scratch is my preferred method in this case.

Languages I know WELL:
  • C++
  • GML (Game Maker)
  • Python
  • JavaScript (web and nodejs)
  • TorqueScript (Torque Game Engine - what can I say, I was into it when I was younger)

Languages I am acquainted with but have not undertaken projects in yet:
  • C
  • Lua

In addition, I am uniquely experienced in and have made games including:
  • Battle Systems (Mess (released), Delvinator (prototype released))
  • Turn Based play (Mess (released), Murder Manor (in development), Some Assembly Required (in development, inspired by a friend who draws art for me))
  • In-Browser Play (as above)
  • Standalone systems
  • Multi-Platform support, both in-browser and standalone.
  • Dynamic Settings and configuration.
  • Intergrated Modding Support.
  • Basic 2D physics systems.
  • Networked turn based multiplayer.
  • Networked real-time multiplayer.

All my previous and current work (mostly my own projects) can be found in these two places:

http://memorymelt.net

My rates are negotiable but depend mainly on work hours and the difficulty of the job. I have done paid work both alone and as a part of a team before (though not officially) and as a student I am more in it for the experience than the money. I also love working with most artists because of how cool their design documentation and concept art always turns out to be.

If anyone is interested, please send your offers to [email protected]!
