I've added roguetemple to the 'other' list for now, and shmup-dev to the main one (for format reasons rather than content ones).
Cheers,

Good thread! What about the modscenes using game engines to create new content?

Could create a separate list for those? (Could keep it on this thread though). If you care to compile one, or start one off, I'll add it to the first post.

I am too out of date to help on that one, last time I was knowledgeable in that area was in the heyday of quake modding :-)

no recognition (Except maybe vendetta? not sure though), but yep, plenty nostalgia, and a yearning to make a quake level of my own again (goddamnit no appropriately nostalgic emoticon).

I recalled a couple others: http://www.kongregate.com/forumshttp://www.albinoblacksheep.com/community/Both Flash portals, though. However, Kongregate for one has an emphasis on games in particular, with a lot of quality content. Albino Black Sheep on the other hand has a lot of different stuff, but I do remember a few notable indie games coming out of it in the past.

Both Flash portals,
Hmm. Thanks for the suggestions. Neither of these forums has a dedicated 2-way feedback area. It's sort of due to the configuration of the communities I guess (possibly that, on these sites, the number of players vastly outnumbers the number of developers). I'll make a third list with flash-portals I guess?

Oh, hah yeah: totally forgot about that. The 'community' aspect of that is private. I guess I'll add it to the second list, though, with a note.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned: The Daily ClickYeah, I know, it's a mixed bag, you can find really young developers releasing their early (often crappy) attempts but you can also find nice stuff by the more experienced members. It's focused on Clickteam products (Multimedia Fusion, The Games Factory, Klik & Play), so there's a lot of help in that site if you are having a problem with the above-mentioned.
