I think I'm the only person on this forum who hasn't played 2048 or 1024 or any of its various knock-offs.

Not owning a smart phone has greatly restricted my ability to stay relevant to modern gaming.

I dont own a smartphone, an ipod, an ipad , an air-ipad , an galaxy s-whenever, an I-whenever ,i dont own a HDTV or a 4K TV ,I dont own a 360 ,   I never saw Avatar , never saw the expendables , never played a Gear of wars game ,never touched a Minecraft thing and clones , never touched to a candy shit game , never played an angry shit game ,ever played a Battlefield game , never heard of your 2048 , or 2029 or whenever I-app , never played flappy shit , never played a single damn facebook game , never played GTA 5 (okay i played GTA 2 ... ) , never played a Dragon age game , a mass effect game , The last of US , Batman Arkhagames , Killzone, never touched an assassin creed (and will never do , dear lord) and dont plan to touch Watch dogs


BUT

I want to try Dark souls...and yes i'm an player and i love stuff around movies , cinema etc etc

And which that one was a clone of the original (http://saming.fr/p/2048/). Gabe's 2048 spawned from this to add animations and make it a little more full-featured. Still can't help but feel sorry for Saming since his 2048 didn't get featured on HackerNews where it took off.

I also managed to accidentally break his version by suggesting a viewpoint snippet. Thought Saming might have added responsive styles if he was going to add the viewport.

Jeeze. The original creators have to keep pushing to break through the clones. Their game sounds deeper but I had to read 2 articles to think that.

Really though, it's just the nature of the beast.  The Threes developers may have felt 2048 capitalized on their game, but what I really think happened is that 2048 was simply easier and free, thus more accessable.  Threes sounds a hell of a lot harder (no-one has beaten it yet and apparently it can take months ..)

I don't really like the Tetris/Dr.Mario comparison either.

yeah, to play threes you need

• some kind of weird ipod phone?
• $whatever mobile phone games cost now
• probably accounts with apple, microsoft, google, facebook and yahoo all at once
• a credit card connected to all those accounts
• ugh

to play 2048 you click a link and there it is.
