I'm sure someone here remembers Myst Online. It promised a huge amount, but every time it got close it got shut down. So, I guess Cyan realized an alternative was to make it completely open to all and leave the rest up to all the Myst fans. This is great, because MOUL was always my favorite MMO, if not a very successful one, because of the community etc. Plus, if it's open it should allow user content almost immediately, which could be amazing considering what some people have accomplished.

It's not out yet, but they say it shouldn't be too long.

URU was a pretty neat game in a lot of ways, and I hope this experiment goes well for Cyan. I never got to play it online, but I did vicariously participate in the original beta due to a room mate of mine somehow getting on the list. Solving the puzzles in tandem with him was a really enjoyable experience.

I have a few gripes about the series, but there's no doubt that the Myst games are among my favorite adventure games. I really hope things start going better for Cyan. They seem like they've got a lot of potential to do new and interesting things.

But a good choice on there part, it's pretty much guaranteed to live on, once the source is released.
