It's not a prototype but it's code for a game. He runs left/right and the camera stays on a plane. Next steps: . handle various inclines . add 'partner' to protect . set 'waypoints' for partner . threat (enemy) I'll go into more detail about how each piece is relevant to the "big vision." I'll also get really verbose at some point, I think. I said I'd do a prototype this weekend somewhere else and I failed. I spent a lot of time learning UDK though, brushing up on trig.

Oh. This will get more clear as time goes on - I'll walk through my designs and decision-making process at every other step or so - but I'll put something out there now anyway. If you see a bullet - such as those in the previous post - and want to make a simple recommendation - i.e. make the enemy fast, shoot lazers, be a coward etc - you can make it. Then I'll hose it.
I like the stimulation. Basically at each step there will be many "ways" to take each item. There are many things that can be true about the enemy, or the partner, or whatever. And I want to cover the reasoning behind each decision I make. So if you give me ideas to shoot down, or stimulate me, all the better. I might even choose one. Though the most likely case is that I'll store it "for later" and use it as a 'foil' (look the term up) for my own ideas.
In simpler terms, giving an idea that is wrong will force me to improve my own idea which is also wrong, but more right than yours. That's how sharing works. Not one of my ideas about other people's games ever did more than to focus their own ideas.

I was a little worried about the code being ugly, but it's not. the docs are thorough but there's nothing there to "explain it to you all at once." but basically it all makes sense. it is very geared towards shooters, but like supports everything else if you just fool around.

I liked this game better when it was just words. Now it's sort of lost its direction, like a band that made one garage rock album that really captured the zeitgeist, but changed their style to ambient free jazz afterwards.
