Shark-people I guess. Maybe they get a special ability when they're in water.

Ninjuit: Looks interesting, I'm assuming it's a side scrolling game? I'd love to see a fist person exploration/puzzle game with this art style. Like Myst but with art like this instead of pre-rendered 3d images.
Not quite sure how I'm going to approach the game, but it'll probably be a regular side-scroller while on land and more akin to Castle Crashers (for motion) while on water. These are just pixel concept arts/mock-ups of the game's style/atmosphere. :D It's one of like 9 games I've got going. Haha.

@Ninjuit, you have a nice concept there. I'd love to see more mockups.

@saibot216 I'll be making a few more for today's post on my blog (and I have a devlog here I just started). I didn't post this one in here though. I'll probably do some other kinds of mock-ups sometime.

This is the stuff I made for today's blog/Tigsource-dev-log post. Cool stuff I like to think. It's just illustrating how I think motion might work.

Been working on this metroidvania underwater game for 6 months now, this took FOREVER to mockup! Still learning to separate BG's and Objects, but ill get there.. Looks outstanding! Play ecco the dolphin or ecco 2 for the genesis for some good underwater inspiration! hey thanks! Yeah i played those ages ago, and totally forgot about them! Gonna have a look at those, ive been looking at mostly real life photos trying to learn the colors and so on. this is only one location tho, others look like deserts, jungles, icy and so on..alot of tilesets to make, but fun.

How do you get these really polished smooth yet sharp shapes? All of my drawings look like sketches thanks all for the nice feedback, been working really hard on this game. I totally INLOVE with Derek Yu's Aquaria art, and im not lying when i say ive been inside the GFX folder of that game and studied it many MANY times. Aquaria 2,well....that would be an honor to be allowed to do:P as for the sharp shapes that looks polished, i usually make all of this in blocks meaning i use a hard edge brush at 100% opacity and rough out the shapes. I spending more time on the lit surface that forms the actual ground u can collide with, because this is seen throughout the game and needs to look tight imo. When u have the shapes blocked in i usualy lock the blockinglayer and start rendering colors and light, blending to make it look smoother. Im making a video on how i do this actually so if u REALLY want, PM me and i can show u. It's a quick method of working in this style, and it really isnt hard.
