No problem, thanks man. Hopefully we can encourage some of the participants to set up some compo threads.

I'm glad to see that the release party was a success Josh. I wanted to stop by the jam that weekend, but on top of working, I had a lot of family events going on as well. Next time fo sho.

It's too bad I couldn't make it to this. If you have another one sometime after I've taken the bar (i.e. August 1st or later), I'll do my best to make it.

hey, we're getting together again! July 17th-19th.I know it's kind of short notice, but it's generally hard to schedule these things, especially in the summer when people have a lot more summer vacations/weekends going on. Pipe up if you're interested, or PM etc. It's probably (85%) going to be in the same place as last time, that seems to work out really well as we'd need well over 50 people to break comfortable capacity... We've been kicking around a couple themes. A Dante's Inferno pick-a-level-of-hell and make a game around it has piqued some interest. Also, animal-sports. Like shark jousting has drawn a few laughs. We may just end up picking up something out of a hat when we get together friday night. If you have any suggestions let us know. Sometimes a TIG compo can really help focus things down, but there's nothing going on ATM so we'll make do. Check the link for directions/maps. Even down to a video that directs you how to get into the building! (it's a bit tricky the first time) http://www.intuitiongames.com/contact/

Aww, it's a shame you did this so early. When I heard you were doing another one I was excited, because I'm going to be in Iowa starting late August. If you do another one of these things, I'd try to at least show up even if I don't participate.
You should do a third in September or something.

Yeah, we'll be starting shortly. Woohoo! Regarding another one, we've been discussing having another the weekend of August 15-16, maybe in Cedar Falls. Still unsure at this point, though.

Hmm, I won't be there that early. Bummer. Ames is much closer, too.

so the jam has begun, but went off with a hitch. There was a "fire" in the building. We tried to stick around and then the firemen came in. They were bold, but demanding. They made us leave. So we left, quickly packed up our laptops and left the huge ass complex. 5 minutes later they too realized it was a false alarm and they promptly left and told us to go back in. But just before we headed through the doors we heard fireworks. That was cool. Now one of the games we are making is about staying in a burning building as long as possible because who really leaves when the smoke alarms are going off? here's some pics/video of the poorly documented debacle: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aeiowu/sets/72157621614116356/Let the jam commence! more to come...

Current projects:
Greg, Will, and Brandon are working on the aforementioned false fire alarm game.
Ted and Ken are working on a puzzle space station procreation game.
Evan and some internet friends are working on a flaming sex zeppelin game.
Mike and I are working on a glider exploration game.

So TigJam Midwest 2009 #2 tournament edition is all over with. We had a lot of fun, as I mentioned earlier decipherOne, brandorf and I were working on Super False Alarm which was inspired by our brief encounter with the fire dept. Here's a little mockup of what we're going for: I'll let the rest chime in on their projects accordingly. As always, it was great to meet up with everyone, including meeting some new faces. Thanks to everyone who came out, and if you missed it again this time, PM me and I'll make sure you know about the next one ASAP.

I was mostly useless, starting the second day on a tile-based level editor tool for the space station game.
Otherwise just working on the graphics system for my current project.
Tekno (a la Gravortex and Das Uberleben Dem Grossen Sprung) took over flaming sex zeppelins and made a nice little game out of it.

I worked on an iphone space station sex game idea that I had for the compo. I made a mockup and Ken got a little bit going on the iphone. Yeah I know, poor platform choice since Apple won't allow sex themed games and many if not most TIG members wouldn't be able to play it including me . So I might try to make a prototype in GM instead. I'll make a thread for it, but for now here is a sample of the mockup: I also downloaded the Gameboy tracker Little Sound DJ and played around with that during the game jam. I made this with it tonight. It's only 8 bars and really lame so far, but it's my first.

Space Is The Place was a great song. I wonder what ever happened to Spacehog. Anyway, apparently there was also a movie that came out in 1974 called Space Is The Place. Looks like a must-see... As I mentioned before, Mike and I were working on a glider exploration game. Here are some screenshots of the world I was making, which was based on some concepts by Georgi Simeonov.
