This maybe a bit off the current discussion, but I must say it before I forget, should quote get double jump? i was think single jump (maybe a bit longer) and have his jetpack shoot him farther. Sorry if this has been said before.

Double jump should be fine. Most game characters don't really have double jump in their original game.

I know that, but making the jetpack much more powerful makes more sense to me. Getting rid of the second jump was just for a balance thing.

Speaking of jumping, is Naija supposed to be able to wall jump, and is Quote not supposed to be able to? Just something I noticed while playing.

Yes. Naija can wall-jump in Aquaria. Quote can't wall-jump in Cave Story.

All you people worried about copyright, it covers only the finished product and not any of the characters, story etc. To infringe on copyright you have to actually copy verbatim parts of the original product.

That's not to say you might not now be infringing any IP rights at all - but copyright you certainly are not.

This is dead wrong. Non-literal elements like characters and plot are absolutely copyrightable.

This is simply untrue. Where do you live? Have you actually read up on copyright law?

All of the fan sites/minor fan games exist because they're typically not worth the money and energy to shut down.

I just finished talking to Tyrone. He's going to email Pixel, so we should know what's going on pretty soon. He's also mentioning potentially using Curly or Balrog.

I thought I'd mention a few of the important details from the conversation:

The sprites may need some changes, to match Quote's newer style. Most notably, he would like Quote to have a scarf, more hair, longer antennas, and a smaller, square hat.

He suggested that the booster not deal damage, and be used as a pure recovery move.

He also mentioned that the missile launcher might need to be changed or replaced, so it's more true to the original.

Finally, he offered some helpful suggestions about a potential Balrog movelist. He mentioned eating the player, rushing him, firing missiles and turning into a frog.

Overall, it really comes down to Pixel, but Tyrone seemed really supportive of the idea. I'm happy to make a few little concessions if that means including Quote.

That sounds great. I was thinking that we could change Quote Av to the Machine Gun. It seems to me that that is the most iconic weapon of Cave Story, so I think it would be cool if Quote had it, and if we do include Curly, she can have it too.

I kinda like Quote's current rocket attack.  I mean, didn't we already discuss the rocket launcher a while ago and decide that shooting at his feet was better than just a straight shot forward?
