Hello!

It's time to announce my game project here, and give you status updates on the progress of this game!

You're a Finnish YouTube-based game critic with a friend who looks like Flat Eric. You get sucked into a retro video game and can only escape by battling enemies and ultimately defeating the game's boss, Ghostface.

This is my most ambitious and passioned game project ever! I'm doing this game totally alone. I only have a composer making the music tracks for me, but everything else is made by me.

The game is coming out for iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, PC, GameStick and OUYA.

The PC version is also available as a retail copy

The game has a little story/plot, and the hardcore fans of NES-Retku will get the most out of it. I'm making the gameplay very smooth and dynamic to make sure everyone can enjoy the game!

The game consists of 21 hand crafted levels with their own themes, different enemies, minibosses, big bosses, minigames and puzzles that you solve as Fläsä who is Retku's stuffed animal companion!

I already have a clear roadmap for the game, now i have alot of coding and art making on my schedule in order to make this game happen Smiley

Quote
Levels to come:

1. Burger Joint + street
2. River Park (picnic, trees, grass etc)
3. Construction Yard (falling debris, danger, pits to fall in)
4. The Hood (asfalt yard, micro cars, short level)
4.1 The Hood inside (rescue DSlay, first minigame)
5. The Playgrounds (kids playgrounds with lots of sand and gadgets)
6. Toxic Wasteland (jump on objects to avoid certain death by falling into toxic waste)
7. The Bridge (A big metal bridge/constructions with a giant evil Fläsä head following the screen and shooting laser) also lots of jumping!
8. Dangerous Caves (A short cave level in beat-em-up style)
8.1 Cave Rails (Retku hops on a mining cart, and gets the ride of his life!)
9. Zen Temple (Japanese garden with little rivers, bamboo, and all the japanese awesomeness)
10. The Video Store (First big boss, Dragonfly)
11. Sewers with lots of jumping on blocks avoiding falling into water (do the blocks so that if the player touches the block object and also the water, he wont die, but if he only touches water he dies)
12. Haunted House (Ghosts n stuff)
13. Graveyard (zombies!! and Graves, and hands that try to grab you!)
14. River boat (You ride a boat in the river and fight spawning enemies
14.1 (River boat inside, minigame and rescue)
15. The mansion (a hounted house style mansion)
16. The mansion main room (Second Boss, skeleton card master)
17. The bar (inside a night club/bar)
17.1 (bar backroom, rescue a friend!)
18. City of garbage (steer a garbage truck to its destination, avoiding obstacles on street and killing enemies by overrunning them)
19. Santa's town (Retku hops out of his garbage truck and walks inside a winter wonderland full of enemies)
20. Ghost Face's Lair (Retku enters a door in the snow and finds himself in a laboratory like area)
21. Ghost Face's chamber (Final Boss, Ghost Face!)

I was planning on making an indiegogo campaign, but im not sure if the game will drive enough backers... so it might take some time as i cannot work full time on this. (big meh)

Anyway guys, give me your thoughts and feeback, its much appreciated!

This looks pretty nice.  How are you doing the retail version, if you can give details?

Hello guys,

This game is done with GameMaker: Studio. This game is a huge project for me, but im slowly getting there ^^

As for the retail. I'm going to make pre-orders for the game, about a month before the release. From the pre-order money i will buy the game covers, cd's etc. I have a deal with my friends printing company who put the game files into the cd's, print the covers etc. And i will also make some extra so i can sell them from my website.

I'm also going to sell them locally in a videogame chain here in Finland. And if the game gets really popular i will see what are the follow up options. But for now if you want the retail, the only way is to order from my website and it will just add international shipping.

Thanks alot man, i appreciate it alot!

As for the capabilities of Game Maker, you can make really good looking and smoothly playable commercial games with it. You just need a high skillset in order to do so Smiley

Check out my most popular Android title which is also made with Game Maker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.panicartstudios.zkotw
