Oh man. Minimalism is a complete non-theme, if not only because that's what any Ludum Dare is about. Doesn't inspire many gameplay ideas for me.

Started making a minimalistic Guitar Hero, then I realized that it would be too easy and boring... so now I'm making something more akin to a minimalistic Rocksmith.. Oh well, always wanted to make a music game and got a nice excuse to play with my guitar, till now I'm having a fun weekend

Game of Life seems perfect.
What I do: * Puzzler: In a level, you get a layout of cells. You are given a limited amount of living cells to place, and then you begin the simulation. Your objective is to create a simulation which grows for the longest amount of ticks. The growth of a simulation is measured by the amount of living cells in it, so spamming gliders is not an option. When you see that nothing interesting happens, you can stop the simulation, get your score, and move to the next level with a different layout.
What I hope you (or someone else) will do: * Tactical: You start with a cell selected in an ongoing simulation, and you can move the selection cursor to neighboring living cells. Your goal is to have a living cell selected for as many ticks as possible. Turn based seems reasonable. * Action: You are a lone glider, sent drifting into an ongoing simulation. You can change your direction with the arrow keys. Your objective? To fly as far as possible, and to remain alive for as many ticks as possible. Real time seems reasonable.

Wabi-sabi is about beauty in minimalism, simplicity, and imperfection, so... That's kind of close to the theme?

I'm making a one-dimensional, two player, sumo wrestling game. I'm keeping it pretty simple because I've been pretty busy this weekend.

That is looking beautiful, meta87. I am really struggling with this theme too. I came up with a game for creating Mondrian-style art while being ruthlessly criticized. Now that I am looking over some of the other blog entries I am afraid my idea was far from original.

I'm using the Phaser framework for this jam. My first time using Phaser, and I guess since I'm so familiar with Flixel it was easy to jump right in and get a good game happening. Here's my first game: http://initialsgames.com/soul/index.php?f=haunting.js&d=hauntingGood luck with yours.

Not that I've been looking super hard, but is Mondrian the only Minimalist artist explicitly featured in these games? No Donald Judd or Frank Stella games?

Samus Regrets: LinkI made a metroid game where Samus is pursuing a minimalist lifestyle by getting rid of all of her upgrades and weapons There's a bit of a puzzle element to it in having to figure out where is the best place to drop which item once you no longer need it and such. Had to cut quite a few enemy types, and I really wanted to have at least one boss, but all the important stuff got finished in time
