i don't see how it's even arguable about false advertising, i mean, the autoplay trailer in steam STILL shows events happening in a way that is impossible in the game as shipped, it's basically the old E3 footage they keep claiming doesn't show the "current state" of the game. I don't understand why steam hasn't forced them to change the footage to a more recent build that actually shows the game as launched.

exactly. i'm not going to go down the rabbit hole of whether "sean lied" and whatnot, but again, the screenshots and footage on the steam page are not from the final version of the game but from early demos. they even still have the old UI. hence they aren't reflective of the product you're buying. i don't see what the harm is in just replacing them with screens and videos from the released version.

No. No one has ever made it and the label remained 'undiscovered'. The centre of Euclid is now labelled 'discovered by StiikzZ'.

I'm at center of Hilbert on ps4 and he has also discovered this center.. What could this mean? If he has discovered the other centers too, could this mean he has discovered the " true" center?
The Euclid and Hilbert "discoveries" match up to the second when you take into account the time zone changes between Europe and US on the images I have seen. So it may be the center of the universe indeed. Perhaps from there one can rapidly go to any galaxy?

My experience with releasing a Steam game has been really difficult emotionally, but it's still a mere fraction of what Hello Games are getting. People get really merciless when they believe they are on the side of justice with the 'sean's lies' thing.
I can see how, with all the investment from Sony, it would be easy to over-promise or be pressured to follow a script that promises what you already know is no realistic.
One thing people don't seem to consider is whether Sean believed the features he promised would be in the game at the time he spoke.
I know I've plenty of times promised something which seemed realistic at the time only to completely miss deadlines and find there's no way

most gamers don't know shit about how game development works lol, this is nothing new. the intensity of vitriol is probably new tho.
i think that's probably the reason NMS isn't as hated here as most everywhere else on the internet: most of us can empathize with the difficulty of realizing your ambition in gamedev.

what i've heard is that sony didn't actually fund the development of the game, just marketing and distribution, because hello games wanted full creative control or sth. so theres probably some *misunderstood artist* crap going on here in addition to everything else lol.

I don't know if it is all outright lying or just that the development process couldn't catch up to the generous overestimation. I don't doubt they wanted to create something more than they did, I just don't think they wanted to admit (maybe even to themselves) that they couldn't, at least not in the time frame they were given.
