I wish to make the intro artwork for my game Sumerian Blood, about the tale of Gilgamesh. Which will be a preface to the game.
The game is ment for both PC and Android, so I thought of a resolution of either 640x480 or 320x240.
320x240 would fit most or all Android devices, but it would require me to scale up for the PC or other devices.
So I thought maybe to do a 640x480 and scale it down for lower resolutions.

So the point of this thread is advice on how to create digital(because I suck at real art) artwork for the intro. Taking into consideration the resolution 640x480.
I am not sure which style, I can do the same style as of my in-game sprites:

Which is basically, drawing an outline sketch. Cleaning up, doing lighting with about 5 shades for each color.
So I end up with a 1 pixel width outline, and 5 shades levels for shading.
Do you think this is good enough for 640x480? Do you have an idea for a different style? Do you have ideas for better technique?
I guess I will just have to try out and post it here, but maybe you have some tips.

Here is an example sketch, in 640x480.

It's a good start; I'd say just experiment with a few different ways of shading and post them up.

I'd recommend practicing some selective outlining on the sprites before cutscenes. If you're the one programming the project, just stick with quick sketches rather than getting all the art done first.. Managed to do a little on that lion sprite.

Its outlines are colored instead of full black, but it's also hard to tell.

Yea, I already said I might get rid of the black outline, I am not sure. But thanks. Smiley

Make a huge title text and a landscape behind it. You can avoid drawing any hard figures  Cool
