A great shame, if it's true. What a legacy though! Rainbow Islands is one of my favourite ever games, and I know Bubble Bobble is numbered amongst many people's best games of all time.

that's quite a shame, but he left some awesome games to live on beyond his years. i played bubble bobble this weekend and had a ton of fun. so pure and awesomely co-op. one of my favorite games of all time for sure.

Now I should play those games... I have played Puzzle Bobble, and Bubble Bobble, but it was a while ago.
