YOU ARE THE CREATOR FOR THE OUTER ZONE SERIES?!

So glad to have come across your work on here. I have been a fan of your games ever since seeing them lets played by John Wolfe.
Also curious. Do you do everything (music as well)? I really want to know who sets the mood/atmosphere for the OZ from the audio side of things.

I found your Twitter and answered my own question!

That being said, I was already a fan due to the initial screens, but now I know for sure this is going to be a gem.

Yeah - Mind Scanners is even set in the same universe as Tales from The Outer Zone.

For those of you who haven't played Tales..

Are you sure it was John Wolfe? I haven't been able to find a lets play of my games by him Smiley

Cheers!

Congrats on reaching a release window! Really loving the art style and theme. Oddly enough, has a bit of Josan Gonzalez's coloring and style. Can't wait to give it a try. The concept definitely vibes with me. Smiley

Thank you s.b.Newsom!

You're absolutely right about Josan Gonzales - Oddly enough, I did not use him as reference, but I think I have seen this before - so perhaps an indirect influence. I looked at artists such as Moebius and Enki Bilal.

One week since launch - Thank you for playing the game!!!

"Perfectly paced, creative and engaging, striking a skillful balance between satisfying play and storytelling. Some of the most consistent and enjoyable evenings I’ve spent gaming this year."
9/10 The Sixth Axis

“Mind Scanners drags you into a fascinatingly grim future society, and keeps you there with colourful writing, a striking retro-futuristic art style, and a twisting, turning plot that's full of surprises."
7/10 PC GAMER

"Mind Scanners offers a well-thought-out retro-future aesthetic in its sonic and visual design and engaging systems and a lot of replayability"
8/10 The Game Crater

If you haven't yet played Mind Scanners
get it here: http://bit.ly/MindScanners

Cheers,
Malte

You also got a positive review in CD-Action (the biggest Polish video games magazine). The overall score is 8+/10. The reviewer noted some similarities to Papers, Please, but wrote that the game still differs from Pope's game enough for him (reviewer, not Pope Wink ) to feel Mind Scanners has its own identity. The narrative and replayability value were also praised.

Bit weird to enter a devlog after a game is finished, but this looks really interesting!

The reviewer noted some similarities to Papers, Please, but wrote that the game still differs from Pope's game enough for him (reviewer, not Pope Wink ) to feel Mind Scanners has its own identity.
Arguably Pope invented a new "genre" with Papers Please, or at least broke the typical mold. I don't hink it's a bad thing to explore game design ideas close to it.

Who is the actor in the release trailer, by the way? He has quite an amazing presence!

Oh. didn't see your older messages @JobLeonard and @mentor93 - sorry!

Yeah, we should all be able to build on earlier creations. Mind Scanners could not exist without papers, please - but we tried doing something new with the genre.

The actor in the trailer is actor/musician Al Agami - and yes he did an excellent job!
