I remember, a long time ago, there were people running games of this sort. They were neat, but I think games like Werewolf, Mafia, The Resistance, etc. lose some of their impact when there aren't faces you can read, or people you can feel something about mistrusting.
This is my attempt at integrating truth/lies into the mechanics of the game - I don't know if it'll work or be fun, but I'd be glad if you'd come on this experiment with me!We are all SPEAKERS OF TRUTH, are we not?
Let's play us a forum game. I had an idea, so I'm trying it out! If you want to join me (or
us, eventually), post here in this thread to say so.
If you're trying to get ahold of what this game entails, think of werewolf/mafia-like games, but... uh, somewhat different. There will be a large number of mistrusting allies with a few traitors among them. In this case, there will be several speakers of truth attempting to root out those few who are liars or killers or what have you.

Here be the rules.
{1.}
Every 48 hours (or... sometime in the evening of each
odd-numbered day) I will make an
ODD NIGHT post. It will include any events which occurred during that odd night, and it will recap any important events from the 48 previous hours.
{2.}
Every player may post/PM/edit/whatever freely aside from one thing.
Every 48 hours, every player must make exactly one
BOLD STATEMENT, which is an entire sentence wrapped in bold tags. You may not edit this bold statement; you must do your best to avoid ambiguous truth/untruths; and you must not do silly things to get around the 'do not edit bold statements' rule.
I will never kill the next person I name in this post. Droqen.
I will never kill Droqen.
If you fail to make a bold statement -- if you make a false bold statement (even if you don't realize it's untrue) -- or even if any bold statement you make
becomes false,
you will turn to ash and die during the next ODD NIGHT. Note that lying outside of your bold statement is entirely acceptable, even among speakers of truth.
{3.}
Unless some other victory condition is specified, or someone else's victory condition causes you to lose the game, you win by staying alive until the game is over.
The game will end immediately when only innocent and loyal Speakers of Truth remain.
You will instantly lose this status (and I will notify you of such) if:
* you ever directly kill someone who is an innocent & loyal Speaker of Truth.
* you ever lie on a bold statement. (Of course, this will also kill you.)
The game will also end immediately when only one person remains.
{4.}
When you die, of course, you must stop posting immediately and you mustn't talk to anyone inside the game about anything you know, or anything you believe, or
anything. When you're dead, you're dead! Try not to poison secrecy with your knowledge.
{5.}
That's almost it. There's no daily voting to kill someone as is common among these sorts of games: just a lot of people trying to root out the undesirable members of their Order of Truth.
Each player may have strange abilities, alternate win conditions, or more. Generally an ability is used either by PMing me (if it's to be used on an odd night, in secret) or just by posting that you're using it.
(If you have an ability that you can use once per odd night, make sure you send me a PM between odd nights or you won't get to use it.)
End of audio.
