That spider crab reminded me of when I went to the zoo with my camera this summer. Now they ain't dragons, but some of the stuff seemed naturally designed to make me go (it's probably sand, but it did not help his appearance) AUGH.

Derek and unsilentwill, those pictures rock so hard. That fish looks demonic and possibly inbred. A hillbilly fish, if you will.

Possibly the most over-designed creatures ever. And so cute!

Ah, figure I may as well contribute. Been far too many "OH! OH! Why didn't *I* post that?" moments. First up, Cute little guys. There's something so very Midnight Monster Movie about them. The "velvet" ensures they never get stuck in their own "web". Which is nice. Secondly, a couple of Burgess Shale Creatures. Used to be during the Cretacious period. I miss them already. Opabinia! Like a vacuum cleaner, with teeth and eyes! Anomalocara! It scares me a little! Hallucigenia! It makes no sense! Sorry about the hotlinking, will host own later. Really.

Ah! lovely picks, Gainsworthy. These are both remains of Titanis Walleri, a large flightless bird which stood around 2.5 meters high and weighed around 150 Kg.

What's that animal that looks like a hippo wearing tighty-whities? I like them.

I'll call your Zombie Snails* and raise you . I'd love to work this bastard into a game one of these days. It is my favourite. * But man the Zombie Snail Disease is freaking crazy stuff. Psychedelic Nightmare Infection.
