 Seriously though I'd like to see that project made, even if the devs come across as procrastinating and trying to get attention all over the place. They also post it in generally hostile places and get really upset over the negative attention it brings. Though I probably can't speak for all of them and this is just my personal experience with a couple.
I also like the idea of visual novels being produced by people outside of Japan. There's probably a big enough group of people interested in playing new VNs that don't have to be translated for things like Katawa Shoujo to be well-received. Hopefully it will also start to end the stereotype that VNs non-japanese make are shitty quick Ren'py things with minimal effort.
Katawa Shoujo is sort of silly though. The whole idea is taken from some footnote of a manga and they might as well have called it something like Violent Semen Inferno so it would receive less "what the hell is this?" from the japanese. |

The only one I already knew of those was Katawa Shoujo. It's interesting, I hope it to be as good as it seems by the demo when completed.
The other four, I'm downloading, so tomorrow I'll check them.

And the lot are from 4chan. Well, /a/, which is the anime board, but I am wary of anything 4chan. I almost don't want to see the end product.  |

Elona is a grindy, but feature heavy roguelike with bad, repetitive dungeon crawling.
It has a lot of things that roguelikes don't usually have like more npc interactions, and you can open up a shop and stuff, but the actual exploration and combat in the dungeons that make a roguelike what it is just isn't very good here.

Egoboo is great of course.
I also enjoyed Elona quite a bit when I found it a while ago, but I haven't played it in a while... I should. The one thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have many original resources. The graphics are very dull; someone should make a new set that's totally new.

Bah, it's still great. Agree, Elona is awesome. I don't know if the dungeon crawling is really so terrible, I just know I find it really compelling and fun! |
