So sometimes, I'll get little bits of lag in some places. Sometimes, it bothers me. I lied, that's all the time. Today I finally decided to do something about it. So I decided to try to get to the bottom of it. Turns out, I'm calling 18,000+ bounding boxes each turn. Each entity has 3 BB's; interaction, render, and collision. Every entity calls this every turn; in this one world I had ~530 entities. TL;DR too many bounding boxes cause lag.

This is the code I wrote when I transferred this from GML to Java. But it's fixed now! Now only 99 BB's are made.

Alpha 2 is up!

I don't remember exactly what I added, but it's good! Trust me! I added a few new conversations, some new hairstyles, changed how to buy things. Shops refresh items every day! I left out room editing because I haven't done anything with it. And a few other good things too! See it on the first post and remember to report any bugs in the issue tracker!

At one point I realized I spent more time lookin up GML functions than I did working on the actual game so I switched to what I know best, Java.

In other news, I'm fixing up some lag issues. I went from 500 updated entities to 40. This was because I updated every tree, rock, etc. even though they weren't doing anything. Also trying to render less on the screen as well.

Have you thought about sequels? Human Crossing 2: Fire Chief Lloyd, Human Crossing 3: Dogs On The Leashes, etc.? I just think there is franchise potential here don't waste it okay.
