Sunday Blues

I woke up this morning
and had whiskey on my mind.
Woke up this morning
and had whiskey on my mind,
but then I brewed up some coffee,
and now I'm feeling fine.

Woke up yesterday,
and I was feeling blue.
Might wake up that way tomorrow,
but that's what I do.
Some days, though,
orange is my hue.

So if you ever feel like this.
Let me tell ya.
Let me tell ya.
Never piss off the woman
you want to kiss.

___________________________

I would put solos after the "hue" and "kiss" (and with some caesuras in the final verse to fit the timing).

Complete with some rather sloppy instrumental recordings...

====================
Little one,
Little one, running
happily,
Not a care in the world.

Little one,
Open arms, holding
joyfully,
softest thing in the world.
====================
=================
Maybe some things
Aren't meant to be
And others
Aren't meant to last

And maybe I should
grow up
and
Get over that
=================
=======================
But a broken heart is a
heavy thing and the
ground makes it hurt
'cause it used to have wings

And a broken dream, it is
Sweeter than before
'cause it's all you're gonna get
And you've given up on... more
=======================
====================
Little one,
Dreaming I knew you
Wishing I
Didn't have to... wake up.

====================
In the trees...
I am at home, and
my mind is, at
ease...

Rustling leaves...
a haven, here, twixt
earth and sky, and
sea...

It's a
place, I know, where
I was meant to
be.

Chorus:
This place,
I will not forget
I will not forget
Even if I
Walk a thousand paths
I will not forget
Even if I'm
Never coming back
I will not forget
This place is my home
====================
====================
Do you see...
The autumn's red is
dancing graceful-
ly...

Do you hear...
A whispering wind
that stirs the countless
trees...

And my
heart, it stirs as
soundly as the
leaves...

[chorus]

====================
====================
Memories
of long ago are
coming back to
me...

Family...
Who gave me life and
all the words I
speak.

We went
far from here to
find the peace we
seek.

[instrumental]

====================
====================
Things have changed...
This place is not the
place it used to
be...

And yet
still I stand here
filled with reve-
rie..

And my
heart, it stirs as
soundly as the
leaves...

[chorus]

...My home.

I do music with lyrics! Here's a song from the album I'm working on (not the recording I'm going to use):

https://soundcloud.com/hlemke/getting-the-hell-out-of

"Getting the Hell out of Dodge"

The stress you were under was killing you slowly,
and the city was lousy with dense coils of memory,
and the spectre of home haunted every avenue,
and it was too much for you.

So you said you were getting the hell out of Dodge,
and you drove out of state in your dead grandma's car,
and you mailed me a postcard from Louisiana,
and after that I didn't hear from you.

Now you've gotten the hell out of Dodge,
but Dodge hasn't gotten the hell out of you.
The ghost of Dodge follows you,
and sneaks up & spooks you when you aren't looking -
in the antiseptic glow of the supermarket;
in the feral cats lapping occluded drainwater;
in the brown dust of fenced-in overgrown ballparks;
in the peeling pink siding of your new old neighborhood;
in the misspelt signage in cracked glass at the laundromat;
in the tripwire tree-roots that dishevel the sidewalk;
in the spasms of wind at the dying of the day,
and in the lilacs and the trash and the filth in the midnight of the alleyway.

And do you know why that is, honey?
The ghost of Dodge is you.

This was suppose to be
the saddest song
on Earth,
but sometimes
time will turn
a corner
and play a trick on itself
and see
too much
much too much.

____

The rest of it is supposed to be instrumental solos building off the theme.

My body screams
blue pangs of hate.
It pounds my head
like iron rain.

My body screams
when the world is sweet.
My body screams
so silently...

My body screams
rapture and joy.
I can bring smiles
when I'm not a toy.

My body screams
for calm and peace.
And, by itself,
screams silently.

And silently
it
screams
out
loud.

I play guitar and write songs sometimes for fun.  Here's the lyrics to a couple:

"Like I Like my Whiskey"

(verse 1)
Girl, I know you
Well maybe not you exactly but,
I've known girls like you
Couldn't tell you why they always attract me, but I
Think I have a clue
I've been around but as a matter of fact we
ain't doing nothing new
This ain't a pose girl, I ain't acting

(chorus 2x)
Hey girl, what I'm trying to tell you
Well you might think it's a joke, but I
Like my women like I like my whiskey
Sixteen years old and mixed up with coke

(Solo)

(Verse 2)
If all the world's a stage
You made the scene right when you stepped in
Ya hit me like a twelve gauge
...already use that body just like a weapon, and
this feeling knows no age
it is what it is no matter what it's kept in
I'm something like Jimmy Page
What do you mean you've never heard of Led Zeppelin?!

(chorus 2x)

Hey girl... (4x)

"Laurel"

(verse 1)
Ask your mirror you know
Who's the hottest
of the trouble women and that's
why I bought this
chemical
that makes you a goddess
I don't feel guilty and I
I don't want to stop this

("chorus" riff)

(verse 2)
You got that beauty that the
the poets hate
they ain't gotta rhyme to
approximate
the lust of youth
too wise to wait
cuz there's always a party and you're
what we celebrate

("chorus" riff)

(bridge)
come unto me baby
like a dark-winged angel
come unto me baby
like a dark-winged angel

(verse 3)
they wanna live forever in a
a house of glass, in a
a sea of memories that
they've amassed
I'm not even here, my
my time has passed
so bury me de-ee-eep
in a piece of ass

("chorus" riff 2x)

So yeah, it's fun.  I think at 31 I'm getting too old for punk though.

Ahahaha, that's gorgeous! You've got a talent, man! I tried to write a poem once, my girfriend was spamming me with poems and demanded me to do the same. I was pretty much into her and did that. It was totally moronic and I felt like a moron all the time because I'm by no means a Shakespeare. I googled it (like this http://www.askwiki.net/How-to-Write-a-Poem or this http://www.aipoem.com/) but it was the crappiest poem ever after all.
