Browsing through the Mockups thread is SO inspiring. I was thinking one thing - a lot of these has to have been turned into actual games by now..?! I'd love some examples, like before/after type deal, would be lovely if anyone could post an example of how a mockup turned out as an actual game!

This little gem here was posted on October 23rd, 2009. It went on to actually become a thing. On Steam even!

Pretty good example. I think I'll dump some early Fez art! These images were made by Phil Fish in June through September 2007.
That is amazing dude, thanks!

I got in touch with the artist of this. And I'm halfway through turning it into a game.

Oh wow, I remember those from a few years ago. You've improved a lot since then.

Ive got some from Turbo Run back when it was just me and DeeLekgolo working on the graphics with no programmer. These are from around March of last year, and boy does it show. I like this style

Splendid idea for a topic reallyjoel. I find the Mockups topic very inspiring as well so it'll be interesting to see what games made it. Anyways, made this mockup back in 2010: Here's another idea I'd like to do something with at the start of next year. Somewhat of a psychedelic version of N except it would be much easier to control the little guy, incorporate a few special moves and the goal being to bounce on the heads of all of the pink blobs goomba-style. The background colours and image would be constantly changing and the wall colours would fade through the spectrum. And here's the same level from the game which has been in active development for a while: Another mockup from back in 2010: I've been playing a lot of Minecraft recently. Just doodled this out today, pretty unfinished but I'd love to eventually do the whole wilderness survival type of game. And here's it in action. Dev is on hiatus for the moment. Another from 2010: Which somehow morphed into this (again on haitus): And finally, cheating a bit here since I posted this mockup as part of the [2012] comp: Well I started this late and not sure if my RSI riddled hand can cope with a month of dev but I bloody wanna mak a gam! And now currently in development:

Started with this: Original postEnded up with this: Moral of the story? Have an artist do art. Unfortunately the game is on hiatus. We plan to return to it soon, though.
