We need original sounds, unless you can get permission from the sources. I doubt Columbia Pictures is going to grant it.

i doubt xerus asked columbia pictures for that sounds. nobody's going to sue us if the game is a freeware and if columbia pictures says something about it, we just remove the sounds. not a big deal. ADDITION: new bonesaw sound. now includes the "oh yeah" yell: http://www.mediafire.com/?fzmjgymydhq

I'd rather we have our own original sound effect right now rather than possibly being told we can't use the movie clip and have to make one later. Also, there's another unoriginal sound clip -- Mega Man's buster charging.

Permissions generally just let us use the likeness of the characters. They don't usually allow us to use content directly from the games.
Don't worry about sending a message. If it is important enough, I'll send the message to them.

well I've been playing the game a while and something that I didn't liked are some of Lyle's sounds and the lack of an "item spawn" sound (like the one on SSB) so i searched for fitting sounds on Freesound.org (i guess it's ok) and i got some promising sounds. Here they are: http://www.mediafire.com/?ma2w7wl6k8052l3 (i also founded some extra stuff like an altern explosion and a "fiuuuuu" sound for Death Worm dropping bombs)

There are some good sounds in there that I'll incorporate into the game. Thanks!

http://www.delyria.com/ben/ib-names.mp3There was some talk earlier in the thread about getting someone to do voice samples for names and such - well, I thought I'd give it a try, since I think I have a decent announcer voice. I have no clue about the pronunciation on some of these (How are the Js in Naija and Iji pronounced? Is it Lie-ro or lee-ro or li-e-ro?), so a guide to the non-obvious ones might be helpful. If you like them, I'll split this apart into individual WAV files; the MP3 format here is just to make the download easier.

That's awesome! I'm getting a Gauntlet Legends vibe from your voice. Your pronunciation of Naija was perfect. I'm not sure about the others, but you pronounced them the way I always heard them in my head. A single mp3 is perfectly fine.

new pack http://www.mediafire.com/?i28mkm81kxaw6tj. this time is focused on the menu system, specific GK sounds and a useful sound for the bonesaw stage. EDIT: btw about GK absorb sound it MUST be repeated in order to work (srlsy. play it, active the "repeat song after finish" or whatever it's called on your music player and listen it. it's awesome)

There are some really nice menu sounds in there. I played around a bit with the voice file, and here is the result.

awesome work with the voices =D. more stuff btw http://www.mediafire.com/?bc4ba4b1m2kdbnm. this time is more focused on items and support characters. P.D.: when you throw items there's no sound played. use the one from GK stick throw. also tigbox makes no sound when hit.

I just want to thank you again for finding all these nice sounds. It's a pain, and it's a task that makes me unmotivated.
