Hey All,

I'm a student and I worked on a 48 hour game jam with a friend of mine. There were some unfortunate circumstances that led us to pull out of the contest, but we're putting out our video game for free (it's called Henko) and accepting donations which we are splitting with the Electronic Frontier Foundation. It's our way of doing something constructive for the internet community. The game isn't much, a small casual game built for the mobile platform, but we ported it for PC and I hoped you would take a look at it. We're also raising money for a good cause.

Here is the article: http://henkogame.blogspot.com/

Any feedback on the game would be much appreciated. We're collecting feedback to start building version 2. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for your support!

Wow I just realized I forgot an important dependency... XNA Framework. I've re-uploaded to IndieDB but you can use this alternate link as well:

One last update (sorry for triple post). I removed the DirectX 10 requirement. Use the mediafire link above!

Has anybody tried it? Feedback would be great. Thanks

Yeah I shipped it with .NET Framework and XNA just to be sure. The game itself is only 4 megs.

The game is a casual puzzle-strategy game. You must swap chinese symbols to make combinations of 3, 4 or 5 (this is similar to Bejeweled). Each combination you create will spawn an arrow, but it won't provide you any points. To get points you have to throw the Shuriken (ninja star). The shuriken will destroy all symbols in its path and give you points for each. If the shuriken hits an arrow, it will be deflected in the direction of the arrow and you will increase your multiplier. Once the shuriken hits the sides of the grid, it will destroy a wall. This creates a hole, and if you throw the shuriken into that same hole, it's game over.

Note: Press ESC at the game over screen to return to the main menu.

The core strategy of the game is making large chains of arrows. Arrows can be swapped at all times to make even larger chains. Creating new arrows can increase your chain or send it into a dead-end.

I'll do better than a screenshot and give you a youtube video :D

(Edit: I can't seem to get the flash embed to work, not sure if anyone can help?)
