Which of us do you Prefer?

Looking at some alternative ideas for heroine coloration, because a few people have asked over the months. The main criteria are:

-Looks good in isolation
-contrasts well with any background situation
-has strong internal contrasts (each element is clear and readable)
-fits artstyle

I like the hair color of the one in front of the bush, with the clothes of the one at the bottom of the left stairs. It helps to tell apart clothes and skin, and blue is statistically the most popular color.

As far as standing out from the background, the character outline should take care of that, along with the high contrasting colors of the sprite and animations. You could also lower the contrast between the background colors if a single background becomes a problem.

Also, that title screen is amazing!

The one on front page, or the animated one?

Early Demo Build Testing

Hi All!

Nearing time for the demo... finally.

We are looking for a few fellow developers to weigh in on early testing! We are keeping the initial testing small and focused. If you are someone who has experience developing traditional 2D titles (published or not), we would love to have a bit of input from you... most likely later in the week! We are probably looking for 3-5 people.

If you fit this type, and don't mind spending an hour giving us detailed feedback of your experience with the build, contact us at:

Demo testing is going well btw! We seem to still be on track for public demo release later in the month.

Beautiful ! I think everyone miss these type of games. Full of simplicity and richness at the same time, like the best gameplay experiences have always been to me.

I like the pixel work of this. It reminds me of Secret of Mana a bit. I would suggest just working a bit more on the outline of objects such as rocks, stones and boulders (adding a bit of aa on that), but maybe it wouldn't match the style anymore D:

As for the main character, I prefer the 3rd one, top to bottom on the most right column.

Yeah I agree, the color saturation of the art reminds me quite a bit of Secret of Mana Smiley

We are formally welcoming Shannon Mason to our team today!

https://soundcloud.com/pongball

https://twitter.com/pongball?lang=en

Shannon Mason, age 34, is a lifelong composer who has worked on indie and casual mobile games for around 7 years. Shannon writes in a wide range of musical styles, but has found a particular niche in the romanticism of the 16 bit era. Through her close understanding of the writing techniques and character of the time, she has managed to create a sound which is a direct continuation of the lineage of the great 16 bit soundtracks, rather than merely an imitation of them.

Shannon has been working with the team for a bit over a month now on Music tracks for the demo, and can be heard on the Title track and background theme to the demo level! She will be joining us for the full production as well.

We have Another big name to announce for the team as well at some point- we will let you know when things are finalized!

We will bring you samples of her compositions for the project shortly!

Im working on Top down 2D action game too and this game looks Super good. Im happy that you are inspired by star tropic that game is hidden gem. I want ask you one question. If this game has Zelda like dungeon progression and overworld.. what make this game a  zeldavania? Should you call it a  Zelda like?
