Hi!

I and my friend have been working on a platform game called Lariad. It is inspired from games like Cave Story and Lyle in Cube Sector. Unfortunately people say it is kind of frustrating. We would be happy to hear some tips how to improve it to be more fun.

I will try it. I can already say that the graphic style looks refreshing compared to the standard "pixelstyle" we're used to.

My criticism:
-the parallax scrolling in the first level gives me a headache
-it's really a pity that the modelling is so inconsistent. Some elements/enemies look very realistic, but the character and the spaceship interior look really bad
-some of the level design is a bit stupid, for example the "stairs" areas where you have to jump on every step, some long areas without anything interesting or waiting for the moving platforms to come back

Other than that it's rather ok. Some of the levels have an interesting atmosphere

Released new version, I fixed swamp parallax to be much slower, but as for other things I really can't imagine what I can do about jumping "stairs" and space ship interior without seriously redesigning game.

There are new things however - little intro, gamepad/joystick support, controls configuration menu and easy mode where game is started with three lives.

Done some little polishing over this time and version is increased up to v1.0
I think I'm done with it now and can move on to other things.
BTW there is mirror bugpipe.com/lariad

Did a write-up about how Lariad was created. It has lots of pictures.

I was a little confused by the download links at first. It looked like there was a version for Windows, Linux, and Mac, but also for Twitter and Tumblr. I was thinking "how would that work" and then realized I'm dumb.
