Backup?
Haha, sorry but when cops suddenly enter your house and take your PC and all your media storages, it's kind of hard to make any backup. My PC isn't lost tho, it should come back end of March.
Those big name companies putting pressure on indies again.... expect that when your computer comes back, it'll be a Pentium 1, with 32mb ram. The persecution has begun Edit: Actually, just realized this in in the jobs section, so probably joking around on your topic isn't a good idea. Apologies

Out of curiosity, why did the cops seize your computer if you don't mind sharing? If its a super long story you're not comfortable talking about don't worry, but I find this kind of stuff fascinating.

KIDDIE PORN Yes.. Here the story... 10 months ago, i was bored and i got on the "15-18", a very famous forum from the website www.jeuxvideo.com (which is one of the most viewed french site). There is really a bunch of shit on this forum, and i stumbled upon a topic with a link to child porn content. I, then, quickly sent the link to a guy i knew, who was(and still is) an operator of the forum, along with a message like "look at the shit we find on this forum." It was some sort of multiconversation, and a guy who really hated me(i don't really know why actually) reported me to the cops. 10 months after that(1 week ago), they came and took my PC to search for such content(which i fortunately don't have). So, no, i don't risk that much. Plus i don't have a lot of downloaded illegal content(2 or 3 movies, same for games, and a discography of Bob Marley). The fact is, i'll still be held in custody and judged in March/April... That was for the little story, now, if you excuse me, i'll do what this crappy PC is still barely able to do, watch TV shows in streaming. Ouh ouh, te voilla dans les griffes de la sarkopolice, je crains qu'ils veuillent faire de toi un example pour pouvoir relancer hadopi and co. But seriously sharing child porn is not a good idea. Just pretend you didn't see anything. Also, I suggest restarting a new thread in the future.

Shitty luck, dude. I've heard of a few other cases of unlucky people being raided for child porn and just barely avoiding prison; I'm sure that there are many who haven't had such luck. It's pretty sad, actually; ruining the life of someone who accidentally stumbled upon a naked picture of an 8-year-old won't undo the fact that that picture was taken or help stop child abuse in any way at all. I have a little theory that arresting people for the mere possession of child porn may actually be counter-productive to circumventing child abuse, since if child porn became a freely available thing, it would reduce the profits of the actual child abusers and force them to find a new line of work and discourage other people from entering it in the first place.

Yeah, just like all porn disappeared when that was made legal, since nobody could make any money in that business anymore...

That's not the point. The point is that making child porn legal wouldn't make it disappear. (And according to Wikipedia, the total revenue for the porn industry was "between $2.6 billion and $3.9 billion" in 2001, so there are people buying porn. A lot, it would seem.)

Just be cause YOU don't doesn't mean people don't. Like most things, the people footing the bill are the people who dictate the taste.

please think about the victims too. those cruel videos show them being tortured in the most horrible ways. nobody should be allowed to watch it, because it is against the human dignity of the victims... we all should stop talking about this stuff there is nothing to discuss...
