The other iPods didn't have tilt or touch screens.

I wouldn't mind having a few good games on mine that are neither casual minigames nor emulators :D

Discuss?
I believe that the iPod Touch and iPhone could be one of the most important pieces of hardware released in recent years for the Indie development community. That and electric kittens!

We have too many regular kittens that need homes already. See your local animal shelter for more information on adoption. And remember, always spay or neuter your pets.

Any major dude will tell you that the iPhone and iPod are excellent platforms for games.
We were discussing that slogan in IRC last night. Well, I was, and other people were tolerating my drivel. I took offense at the word "funnest."

:D wellp. i know a lot of you may hate me for this (either for buying one before them, or more likely, buying one at all due to ZOMG APPLE HATE), but I'm picking up an 8gig in the next couple weeks. i've been wanting a touch for a while, my old nano broke, i have $250 spare cash and a $50 Best Buy gift card. Just for the hell of it, since I have $300 and the iPod is $230, I'll be picking up a $50 iTunes gift card to try out some of the games (maybe a movie too?)... so if you want to recommend anything, I'm all ears. I'll probably get Super Monkey Ball ($5) because I love Super Monkey Ball; and Toy Bot Diaries ($4), this neat little puzzle physics platformer with a grappling hook. so with all this spare iCash, what do you think I should pick up? or, alternatively, are there any must-have apps that I should get? (don't recommend I Am Rich; tired joke is tired).

I was being serious about the iPhone and iPod Touch.
I'm getting an iPhone as soon as I can afford it (i.e. when it comes out on pay as you go in the UK later this year) and Obj-C'ing the shit out of it.

Is it true that you basically need a Mac to develop for it?

Yeah I would need to know more about Iphone devellopment. The trend seems to be to just spam the Iphone store with any old shit game you've got on your Hd. To that effect I have a couple old games that I would never dare show on a PC but that would look at their place on the Iphone. Although if it does require a mac, that would rule me out. Isn't there some sort of emulator/dev environment for PC?
