After thinking about and detailling my initial idea, this is shaping up for the game:
  • Time based rounds
  • Control a camp of five survivor of the end of the world
  • Different apocalyptic events come in waves
  • Gather ressource (building material, medicine, weapons) and information about next waves
  • improve your camp with buildings against specific events
  • final dead of the camp should be inevitable (loosing is fun  Cheesy)

And here are some examples for type of events:
  • Zombies attack
  • Four horsemen of the apocalypse
  • Tectonic collapse
  • Aliens attack

I have to admit the basic idea is inspired by the first season of "The Walking Dead". There is a strong urge to add survivor's interaction on a high complexity level like disputes, tantrums (dwarf fortress style  Evil). That's probably to much for this month.

Tools of trade:
  • Python with pygame
  • Gimp
  • Bxfr
  • Musagi

Let's see how this idea will come along. I will post some mockup of the interface next.

Unfortunately I have to declare I failed the compo. My game idea was a little to big for me and some other events this month ate my spare time (Ludum Dare, both warm-up and compo and christmas for sure).
Nevertheless I still think the basic idea of my game has some potential. And at least I have about 100 lines of code already finished to start with Wink. Let's see what next year will bring.
