Escaping Insanity will be a platformer/puzzle game made in the Grandma Engine which was made with Game Maker. The story is that a mental patient wakes from a coma caused by unknown reasons, and sees that the mental facility he is housed in is...abandoned. Empty. Nobody is there. This is his chance to escape! There is only one problem. He's obviously insane. And since he was in a coma for god-knows how long, he's even worse than before. As he tries to escape the place, it quickly becomes a completely insane world, caused by the distortion of his insanity.
You wonder, are you escaping insanity, or running further into it?
Concept Art! Main Character, Alan, and a being who appears sometimes named FRIENDTeam: BattleBeard(Director, Writer, Concept Art, Programmer) MartyMan(Spriter, awesome guy) Might have a musician though

Have you ever played Second Sight? You sneak into a mental hospital in that. There is a game developer in one of the rooms (same joke repeated years later in Alan Wake).
Anyway, I look forward to playing as 'Alan'. I have a workmate called Alan. He has tattoos and gives me firm handshakes.

Implenting sprites...never worked with Grandma before so it's a bit out-of-place for me. It's going along fine though.

Theoretically, you just make the "Player" object a Parent Object, and have collisions/commands alter the sprite (and with it, the hitbox). Not a bad choice so long as you don't mind your game feeling like IWBTG in the control department; at least that's what it most reminds me of.

The controls must be semi-realistic and smooth

THis looks like it'll be a pretty cool and dark platformer. Are you battling with his psyche too? Is there a "dark" world and a "light" world?

Well, in a way. The world will get darker as you progress.

Hm. Interesting.
I was thinking he'd lapse into hallucination world and real world like in Castlevania: Simon's Quest where it would be a terrible night for a curse.
