Title: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on August 20, 2010, 07:29:53 PM Here it is: you can download it here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17368315/NinjaConvention.zip (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17368315/NinjaConvention.zip)
Its a 2 player stealth game based around both players using the same screen. Instructions PRESS ENTER TO START and skip replays The goal of the game is to kill the other player. Player 1 uses the arrow keys to move and enter to shoot. Player 2 uses WASD to move and space to shoot. There are two parts to this game: Part 1: When the game begins neither player knows which ninja they control they must figure it out (try shooting). Part 2: Once a player has found themselves he / she should start hunting the other player. I guess that was your intention anyhow.
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: Ant on August 21, 2010, 02:11:54 AM Heh, that's surprisingly a hell of a lot of fun. ;D:handthumbsupR:
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on August 21, 2010, 06:39:31 AM Thanks guys glad you enjoyed it!
@allen Yup spy party was defiantly an inspiration but I hope I didn't make the game to similar! Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: Netsu on August 21, 2010, 10:23:20 AM Great idea, really fun for a five minute play with a friend :)
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: tmth on August 21, 2010, 10:26:27 AM This game was awesome. Had a little session with Netsu here and man, did we love it. So simple!
It seems to me that the other ninjas only go in one direction and then stop before going in another. This way you can find out which is yours without shooting. Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on August 21, 2010, 06:37:45 PM Glad you both enjoyed it!
It seems to me that the other ninjas only go in one direction and then stop before going in another. This way you can find out which is yours without shooting. Actually they sometimes will switch direction before pausing. The way I always find myself is by going right until I see a ninja stuck on the right side of the screen. There are also a few other subtle differences between the A.Is and the players here they are:-Players can move diagonally. -Players can go further off screen then A.Is before meeting the boundaries. You can also uses these to figure out who you and the other player are. Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on December 24, 2010, 08:34:11 AM Just submitted this to the egw. Any more feedback would be appreciated.
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: Brice on December 24, 2010, 08:04:08 PM Hi Knight, great game!
My only feedback is that I think it's too easy to figure out who your Ninja is. I start every session wiggling around and shooting. If other NPC Ninja's mimicked these tactics (wiggle, shoot a few stars), then it would take longer to figure out who you are. I love the minimalist graphics -- great job on focusing on the gameplay. Best of luck! Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on December 25, 2010, 06:58:05 AM Thanks Brice. Actually I wanted you to be able to find yourself very quickly so you couldd spend more time hunting the other player. Thought I may add some new behavior to the A.I soon to make them seem more playerish.
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: J. R. Hill on December 25, 2010, 10:31:03 AM I think it's good how it is, it encourages the player to mimic NPC actions so they don't give away their position.
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on January 02, 2011, 09:53:28 AM Just updated the dropbox link with the newest version.
The newest version contains replays! After the fight the game replays highlighting both players. Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: ink.inc on January 02, 2011, 10:10:55 AM This is a damn bit of fun. The mindgames you play with your opponent get pretty crazy. Kill a foe to lure them to you, then take refuge in a crowd. Or hide in the very top corner of the screen and spring at them from the shadows. The strategies are only limited by the player's ingenuity.
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on January 03, 2011, 05:06:03 PM Not too much new but I added fullscreen support(press escape to toggle it).
Hey guys should I add anything or keep the game as it is? Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: ink.inc on January 08, 2011, 12:56:39 AM It's good as is.
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: Kunal on January 08, 2011, 10:41:50 AM This is good fun. Would it be possible to integrate it with some of online flash game multiplayer APIs ? Like say Nonoba's API ?
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on January 08, 2011, 12:34:43 PM Thanks kvjoshi. I have never actually seen that api and I must say that looks cool but for now I want to keep this game hotseat only.
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: PeteHuf on January 10, 2011, 11:25:19 PM Have you seen Puji? Sounds like the same game:
http://www.patkemp.com/wp-gallery/games/puji.html Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: knight on January 11, 2011, 05:28:00 PM Actually I've never seen that before but I guess no idea is unique :shrug2: . I think even though the idea is the same, the pace and style of the games are actually different enough. It seems puji is much more time focused(with the sudden death) and takes a very different visual style than Ninja Convention. There are also other differences such as the player movement. But if you happen to know how to get in contact with the devs of the game I'd love to talk to them and assure them I am not trying to steal what they had put out.
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: Martin 2BAM on January 11, 2011, 06:17:15 PM Ninja convention? I expected a blank screen! :eyebrows:
Title: Re: Ninja Convention Post by: Glauco on January 13, 2011, 10:43:56 AM Loved the simplicity and focus on gameplay, as Brice said.
The game provided some nice fun! :gentleman: |
