Title: Ye olde beat 'em up

M2tias and I have decided to embark on a mission to create a procedural generation game.

The game is a medieval platformer. The protagonist has to survive through tough worlds full of cold steel and mighty enemies. Armed with a sword and trusty crossbow, he will start his journey towards unknown...

To the technical side:
The game is based on music played from an .mp3 file. The chosen song will be analyzed, and used to create various features of the game.
Song tempo will determine the scrolling speed of the level, the melody will determine the hills and slopes in the level, etc etc. Enemies and level objects (such as trees and castles) will also be determined by different aspects of the chosen music.

Hi-score lists for every song will be also available. Then you can compete with your friends, who is the greatest knight in e.g. "Enter the Sandman".

We will try to make this all possible in the time given, but if not, the game will be finished later.

Wow! Sounds cool :)

I`m too planning to use mp3-based generation for the game for this entry but failed to find good sound analizing library (since there is no chance to do it from scratch in month for me alone...) for now.

Also, this game looks rad.
a lot of people don't do the posting early, posting often thing and have a small number of posts due to that fact.  I'd like to think that these people can be a part of the TIG community just as well as the more vocal types.

I'm sorry to inform you that we won't be finished before June 2nd. The game will be finished, but just later. :P
I'm working and studying next month, so I'll work with this in July. There's no aspect of the game we haven't thought about yet and there shouldn't be any problem. I'm afraid of compiling under windows, though.  :(
I don't know what to say, but ask and we'll try to answer.
