Title: madah's PG Game [FINISHED]
Post by: madah on May 11, 2008, 08:13:44 AM
Playable demo now ready!

Download here (http://web.comhem.se/~u67733017/pggame/madahs_pggame_001.zip) or here (http://gradvarg.se/madahs_pggame_001.zip)!

I don't have time to work on it anymore so I'm declaring it finished.

Added updated screenshots:

Implemented maze generation, with tweakable parameters (growing tree algorithm):

Controlling the player and collision detection also works.

I'm thinking of making it kind of puzzle-based with some shmup gameplay added on. But it depends if there is enough time to implement it all.

Yeah, let's see what the actual game is :)

Your maze algorithm looks pretty good at the minute. The colour choices could do with some work, though (very little contrast and the grey doesn't look very nice on the green).

I like the child-safe maze corners :)

New screenshots:

Larger pics: (1) (http://web.comhem.se/~u67733017/pggame/image004b.jpg) (2) (http://web.comhem.se/~u67733017/pggame/image005b.jpg) (3) (http://web.comhem.se/~u67733017/pggame/image001b.jpg)

Those numbers (1-F) are just for debugging.

The gameplay will be much like pacman, but with several locked doors and some items/weapons. Bombs are both a weapon and a key: it "opens" breakable bricks. I was thinking of having more types of doors-openers; like the classic move-the-stone/switch or have hidden doors. Those things might get added later.

What's missing now is enemies and sound. I'm hoping to release a demo later this week(end).

I like this a lot!  I love the "lock and key" procedurally generated levels, and how regenerating the level each time you go in means that you don't get frustrated if you do bump into a really difficult level.  :)

Sweet!  Procedurally generated mazes that work!   :gentleman:
I liked the game in general.  Sort of a bomber-man feel to it (a good thing in my opinion).
Bomb upgrades, different enemies, and additional goals would add to the flavor, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
Good show!
Cheers,
