Title: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on January 30, 2011, 08:53:38 PM Hi everyone. Just wanted to post here a little independent puzzle game I worked on with my brother. It is completely for free, if anyone here would like to give it a try. For previous releases we also had this tradition of offering a "custom sprite" based on a picture of the player, to be included in the game, and we're gonna do it again but who knows for how long. Anyway, here are some screenshots.

You can download the game at http://www.wind-water.net/ (http://www.wind-water.net/) We'd love to hear feedback from fellow indies :D Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: AuthenticKaizen on January 31, 2011, 05:00:38 AM nice! haven't tried it yet but the trailer looks pretty good and polished :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeSoz3UYdKM well...is little ninja (http://dev.yuanworks.com/category/little-ninja/) still in development? (http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/5697/littleninja.jpg) oh and your new project (http://dev.yuanworks.com/) looks interesting. (http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/9/20090702pixelhouse640x4.jpg) (http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/6287/pixelhouse.jpg) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJfcNfgwFy8) moreover: it also would be nice if that wouldn't be your only post here :) (some people have only 1-2 posts... they advertise their game and then *poof* gone... never to be seen again) however you seem to be real and therefore consider to introduce yourself here (http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=45.0) :gentleman: Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on February 01, 2011, 09:07:03 AM Oh, but I've already done that, and with pictures ;)
I was a very informed about what was going on in the scene a couple of years ago. Now I have to catch up a little bit :P Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Theon on February 01, 2011, 10:47:50 AM WOAH! Looks schweeeeeaaaat!! :monoclepop:
I'm also very interested in the Pixel House project and the ninja-thingy! Please keep up the good work! ;D Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Theon on February 01, 2011, 11:11:46 AM Well, that was a huge disappointment; it doesn't run.
I mean, it doesn't even TRY to run. This is weird. Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Theon on February 01, 2011, 11:49:36 AM Ah, sorry! I just set the screen res too high! XD
The game is awesome! reminds me of Puzzle Quest! :handthumbsupR: Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on February 01, 2011, 11:53:50 AM EDIT: OK, everything works fine, then. Please don't scare me like that!!!!
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Well, that's unusual, we tested it thoroughly. Thank you very much for reporting this. Could you tell me exactly what went wrong (installer did not work, the game installed but didn't run)? And what is your Windows version and language? We're uploading a .zip file so that you can extract it and run the game directly without installing. You can find it here: WindAndWater_PC.zip (http://yuanworks.s3.amazonaws.com/wind-water/download/WindAndWater_PC.zip) It is currently uploading, so if it doesn't work right away give it some 15-20 minutes. Again, thank you very much! Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Pepwuper on February 01, 2011, 11:58:25 AM This looks amazing. Congrats and can't wait to give it a go!
Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Theon on February 01, 2011, 12:25:19 PM I can run it in 3x, but if I try 4x NOTHING happens when I press "play game" in the config utility.
I run Win7 in Norwegian, though I doubt that should matter :shrug2: My screen is old as hell, though... That might be it :giggle: But, as I said, splendid game! I'll probably waste hours upon hours of precious time in it... Having your very own sprite sounds really cool, but I'm afraid I don't have the coin at the moment :( Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: AuthenticKaizen on February 01, 2011, 03:50:51 PM congrats! the game is now on RPS (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/02/01/blocks-and-experience-points-wind-and-water/).
Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on February 01, 2011, 09:39:48 PM Thanks... but "how to make dvd covers in Photoshop"?
I don't understand :P Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: AuthenticKaizen on February 02, 2011, 05:31:34 AM Thanks... but "how to make dvd covers in Photoshop"? I don't understand :P oh well...that happens when one has to many tabs open + copy pastes stuff. *fixed* thanks for the hint ;) ->i was searching for an empty dvd cover template for the game dev resources list on pixelprospector. so devs can make something similar like locomalito if they want to. (he made a nice printable cover for hydorah (http://locomalito.com/juegos_hydorah.php)) Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on February 03, 2011, 08:39:08 AM No prob, actually thanks for the link!
@Theon 4X didn't work because it exceeded your monitor's resolution!! :P If you'd like a custom avatar you might wanna check out a little contest we're holding to give out 5 full sets for free, right here (http://forum.wind-water.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=60) Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Theon on February 03, 2011, 09:06:53 AM We hadn't really thought about 4X, we'll try to implement it. If you'd like a custom avatar you might wanna check out a little contest we're holding to give out 5 full sets for free, right here (http://forum.wind-water.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=60) I saw that, but I was unsure what exactly "5 full sets" mean^^; Can you get your own picture made into sprites if you win? Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on February 03, 2011, 03:42:40 PM Yeah basically :D
Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Hangedman on February 03, 2011, 08:23:03 PM This game is quite cool and very polished!
I can't quite get the hang of it, but I've never been that great at comboing puzzle games and etc. Still, a great style and fun gameplay. Everyone should check it out. Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Derek on February 05, 2011, 01:05:58 AM I would love to see a video of someone beating "The Metal Element" level. Because damn, it is hard as hell.
Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on February 05, 2011, 08:10:44 AM Holy crap you're already there?! :o
Thank you for playing!! When I get back home we might make a video of it :P For emergencies, there's an item called "Cheese Victory" (buy the Cheese and press Start, then Q + Z in any Stage), although some gamers probably won't want to use it... Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Derek on February 05, 2011, 12:37:31 PM Yeah, it's quite fun! But this level really kicked it up a lot. I can't even clear half the required tiles before I get pressed.
EDIT: It seems like every time I make a big combo the press drops down and then immediately comes back up! WTF?! :o Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Derek on February 05, 2011, 01:11:32 PM 6 blocks left... :'(
Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on February 05, 2011, 08:50:00 PM Almost there, almost there!! Glad you're having fun!
Anyway, my brother was making a video featuring the upcoming mouse support, so I asked him to clear Stage E05 (Metal Element), since some ppl have trouble with it  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oQ9y9SDWKk Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Derek on February 05, 2011, 11:52:45 PM OH. MY. BALLS.
I DID IT! :tearsofjoy: Thanks so much for the video! It was helpful to see the game played at a high level. :gentleman: Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: shockedfrog on February 06, 2011, 02:12:52 AM Completed the puzzle mode, got up to the 90 second full clear stage in the story and found a secret path to the final battle but both are killing me so I'm just unlocking other secrets until I'm feeling a bit more ready for them. Obviously having played to that stage I'm loving the game. :)
Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Y.u.a.n on February 07, 2011, 09:00:28 AM Holy cow you guys are really good ~___~U
This game was supposed to last at least... dunno, a week? You know, my brother designed the puzzles in Puzzle Mode, and once he got stuck BAD in one of them and couldn't advance to further test the game. It was hilarious. Somehow every time I play Puzzle Mode there's at least once that I have a lot of trouble with. I'm glad you guys are liking the game >D< Title: Re: Wind and Water: Puzzle Battles FOR FREE Post by: Skofo on February 13, 2011, 01:56:01 AM I, too, feel the sting of endless defeat on the metal level. :'(
