Title: Row, Damn You, Row! Post by: ChrisFranklin on March 02, 2009, 06:47:48 PM AKA "You Have to Drive the Viking Slave Galley."
Note that all art is temporary, and hopefully I can de-assify it as I go on (time warranting). (http://www.errantsignal.com/img/rdyrTest.jpg) I'm not entirely satisfied with the core gameplay yet - whipping slaves is fun thanks to the metaphor of making people do all the hard work, but ultimately you're just raising/lowering your position. The meta-game I'm planning involving choosing which villages to raid for what resources could help that a bit, but I'm going to either have to do something pseudo-clever with the obstacles you need to face in the minimap or I'll need to make managing these slaves more interesting than an effort/health tradeoff. More mediocrity to follow. Today's accomplishment: Your slaves now indicate health via lacerations rather than transparency (http://www.errantsignal.com/img/rdyrTest2.jpg) Title: Re: Row, Damn You, Row! Also, maybe you can whip some other guys to attack baddies. Title: Re: Row, Damn You, Row! Post by: Fuzz on March 02, 2009, 08:17:16 PM Can you summon Thor to come and zap slaves or smite them with a hammer?
Title: Re: Row, Damn You, Row! Post by: Alehkhs on March 02, 2009, 10:55:56 PM Haha!
As a rower myself, this game is truly awesome. Looking forward to breaking some backs... Title: Re: Row, Damn You, Row! Post by: fiber optic asparagus on March 07, 2009, 11:41:58 AM So do you steer by adjusting the speed of each of the rowers? Also, Oregon trail-like towns?
Title: Re: Row, Damn You, Row! Post by: ChrisFranklin on April 05, 2009, 04:41:34 PM Unfortunately, due to some utter insanity and 50+ hour work weeks as of late, I'm not going to be able to finish the game up to a level I'm comfortable with submitting. I'm still putting up what I have for the curious, but what's here is absolutely half-finished - expect bugs, missing content, and lots of repetition.
Download Incomplete Pre-Alpha (http://www.errantsignal.com/files/RowDamnYouRow.zip) Anyways, here's hoping I won't be pulling insane shifts during the next compo. I look forward to playing all the other entries! |
