I miss the first person genre, i havent enjoyed an fps since halflife 2 (oh and left4dead) and its great to have an indie team make finally make an fps that can break the incredible dull and cliche games that are the majority of the genre. :) I got it for 15 dollars, seems like a steal.

However the voice acting isn't too good [some of them are just sad :(] the story is clearly not written by professionals but is outdone by the art so it can be accepted that it is a little 'odd'. Title: Re: Zeno Clash available for prepurchase! Post by: Saint on April 23, 2009, 03:01:43 AM It was indeed cool. Audiovisual presentation didn't do it for me and the equipment/health pickup-system provided a lot more annoyance than it had to, but the basic fighting was immensely satisfying.
Umm... spoiler warning for the rest, I guess. Bosses were all kind of annoying, though. Near-identical versions of "avoid, slam, repeat" except for the hunter who wasn't very hard to begin with, and they all had a little too many moments where a perfectly good hit wouldn't damage them. The final boss (both iterations) felt like it went YHTBTR on you a little too quickly, especially since the second advice was pointless - it was much easier (and safer) to just kill him with the gun alone than to get up close. The fighting was indeed masterful so it's not like the bosses ruined the game, they just felt like a missed opportunity. Title: Re: Zeno Clash available for prepurchase! There's some glaring oversights with the game. I can't drop weapons, I've tried everything. Auto lock on is just annoying and can't be turned off. Picking things up is incredibly temperamental. Sometimes you sort of get stuck being hit by an enemy, unable to move anywhere even though nothing is in the way. Saving in the middle of a battle. I re-loaded after dying to see a bat smacking me in the face. :wtf: However, the combat is great when you get used to some of the issues with it, and the art is really excellent. But other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. The combat was satisfying (though occasionally frustrating), it looked really pretty, and the story was okay or something? The difficulty is spot on too imo (playing on normal), it reminds me of when games had more character like the PS1 days of Medievil and Abes Odyssey.
