Title: Hungry Elly [A Game By Its Cover]
Post by: ProgramGamer on July 03, 2016, 04:55:44 PM
So, I started work on this game for the infamous A Game By Its Cover competition. I think it's pretty neat, because I picked a fake cart that looks really good and I'm inspired for this, so let's get to the game, shall we!

This is the fake famicase I chose:

And these are the sprites that I drew by hand for the game:

And here's a Youtube video to show off what I've done so far, which is basic platforming, sine wave breathing, in game colored sprites and RAVE PARTIES!

I plan on using food and knives as the primary gameplay mechanics for this. I have a few ideas in mind, which involve munching on stuff and slicing up giant octopuses, but I'll iron out the platforming first so that I can work off of something solid.

The idle stretching animation is really weird atm, you may need to actually animate it  :addicted:

You're right, and I will wait until the very last minute to do it :)

You should do that! But the idle animation is weird because it is so looong, I guess. Maybe speeding it up and stretching it less would help.

Actually, I figured out why it looks so weird. The animation spends most of it's time in the two most extreme positions of stretching (tall&skinny and wide&short) when it should actually mostly spend time in the normal proportions and the wide&short one. I've fixed this and it will show in a future video where I hopefully show off some attack animations with enemies!

This was for a contest and I missed the deadline so I'm cancelling this game in favor of my other project, Rose bot.
