I didn't do my practice yesterday So instead I'm just uploading some random stuff I drew while watching tv. It's people drawing which is why i don't count it as practice but at least I was working on two things I need to work on (clothes and legs). this first one even has my favorite drawing of mine to date (the one with clothes on it, one big problem is the crotch is way to close to the lower abdominals but oh well, I like it) So then onto lots of legs. It turns out legs are tricky bastards in that the inside part is like a weird double curve thing. I was so excited to figure out that that's what I was doing wrong I think I overexagerated it... Also some random face practice... Today I did well and actually did my practice. So here's the practice of me drawing random objects from real life...

OK maybe "almost the exact same" was an overstatement. From what I gathered Scrolls is basically Heroes of Might and Magic + trading card game. My game is a combination of deckbuilding games like Dominion, Thunderstone etc. and Fire Emblem/Advance Wars/HoMM with procedurally generated cards (for extra indie cred ). But it's still close enough to be seen as a "ripoff" I guess. Pretty much my thoughts to, you should make it please. All though i'd be a bit worried about procedurally generated cards in a game like dominion. Seems way to hard to balance and create interesting cards at the same time.

Nice! I got 29,600 and made it to the top. It was a lot easier when I learned you could double jump and possible do a wall jump type thing.

I always really liked school, i love learning things and I'm good at remembering stuff that I hear. Some things that I think helped me enjoy/learn a lot from school and do well are the following...
Realize that you don't always have to do what you think you have to do. For example in a number of classes I was required to take notes on the reading. I don't like notes, I love reading and remember what I read because I find it interesting, taking notes makes it not interesting so I don't remember. So I would just read the chapter then after I was done (usually on the way to school) go through and write the first sentences of the key paragraphs on a piece of paper in a note like way and turn those in as my notes. no one ever complained about my "notes" even though they only took a couple minutes to do.
Think of school/tests as a game. Your trying to win by getting the best grade possible while doing the least amount of work possible. This always made it more fun for me in classes that I didn't inherently enjoy.
Imagine you are a secret agent infiltrating a middle school. You have to do everything you can to blend in so that you are not discovered. This means doing your schoolwork as well as talking to other students. Also your probably allowed to give everyone shifty eye looks all the time, you are a secret agent after all. (yes I really did this in high school...)
Try to help everyone seated around you to get a good grade. This was always fun for me and helped me learn/make friends. If your working on a worksheet and get it done don't just sit there, help the people around you with the answers. They are usually thankful for the help + it lets you learn the material better. Just make sure you aren't arrogant about it, or it can have the reverse effect. Plus it creates a feeling of teamwork in classes, which always made them much more fun for me.
Not sure if I'm just weird but those were the things I did to make highschool/middleschool fun and helpful.

Nope not to much, this kinda of info is fun. I recently coded up a 3D renderer in flash for someone so it's kinda fun seeing how our eyes/brains do things compared to how computers do them. Yeah the thing was very close to me, that makes sense why people sit farther back from things now . Another thing to balance, sounds tricky though but I'll try . did you notice a difference while drawing from photo and real life?
I don't have to keep the corpses in a freezer My friend overheard me say something along the lines of, "Oh you should see, I finally got a good torso the other day and they pointed out how creepy this sounded. For today I did face drawings for which moi's post is very relevant because they look as if I could have been drawing them from a corpse. Seeriously face drawings are creepy! (well my face drawings) So as embarrassing as it is, here they are... First a tracing... Which looks less creepy then the one that is not traced... Anyways the eyes are in the wrong spot and I made the face concave in some spots where it should be convex but most things seem to be pretty close but it looks way zombieish... Oh well it's my first one. It's really hard to figure out where to put lines on something so smooth like a face.

@Blodyavenger Kinda, I wanted a spaztic, internet during the 90's, holiday webpage background, kinda thing going on and that was the first one I found. @ J. R. Hill Well there isn't actually an ending, I kinda wanted to have something special happen if you were alive during the rollover to a new day but it was something so few people would see it was one of the first ideas that was cut in the frantic couple hours of game making. Glad people thought the concept was ok. I was hoping it wasn't just me that associated staying up until midnight with the holidays. At first I was going to make the game get harder the closer to christmas it was so right before midnight christmas eve would be the hardest but then it seemed more like a calender and not like 1 day in the calender. I'm a bit disapointed day 3 came out yesterday so I won't get to see a new game tomorrow really Although I guess the team up game might get put up tonight in which case I have that to look forward to in the morning

Yes drawing from the photo was easier. Since the photo was flat my mind could overlay a grid on it and try to copy it easier. Drawing it from real life offered me a lot more information then the photo (from minor movements of my head I guess?) but it was difficult for me to use the info, it mostly seemed to confuse my drawing. Tonight I think I'm going to try to draw some faces.

Is it even legal to drop out of school at your age? I know here in the U.S. you would be to young and child services would come if you stopped showing up for school...

Sure I tried the experiment. It was hard to get a shot from the same angle using the camera built into my laptop but I got pretty close. the one on the left hand side is from the picture the other is from real life. Then I tried drawing a squished cylinder from all different angles. turns out some angles are hard :/

So I stayed up until midnight (pacific US time) so I could post my game at midnight but it turned out tigsource was down! Then I had a dream that someone posted an awesome game (like a huge multi month project) that made everyone hate my made in 3 hours game. Anyway tigsource is up now yay! The game uses the christmasy theme of waiting until midnight. The closer to midnight you play the game the harder it is So if your playing at 1AM the games going to be super easy but if your playing at 11 PM it should be super hard... I don't have anywhere to upload it so I just shoved it on newgrounds, if anyone else has somewhere they want to put it they are welcome to. You have to reload the page to restart FYI http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/584909

My Game for the second is nearly done. My 2 hours of coding is done and now I just need to do 2 hours worth of art to make it look somewhat interesting. Do I just upload it somewhere and post the link here when I'm done? I don't really have a website or anything but I guess it's flash so I could upload to kong or ng or something.
Also I'm a bit concerned as it appears that no one is currently covering the 9th.

OK I'll do some real objects and some intersections. Also, I forgot to post yesterdays work so here that is. I tried to do some drawing from random real life simple shapes and also some combinations of simple geometric shapes. Then today I decided to try to do JWK5's sack drawing to work on my volume. I have no idea how he does them so fast it took me a long time just to do this many... I feel like this was a pretty helpful exercise for getting a better hold on non rigid volumes. I'm still not very good at it but I felt myself getting the hang of it better as I went along. Tommorrow I think I'm going to do my advent calender entry then go to the park and try to draw some stuff from real life so that should be fun

@unsilentwill thanks for the skeleton image, that helps to visualize where things should be. @Gimmy OK, no more artistic nude or female nude images. I'll try to do more geometric drawings it always feels awkward doing them like I'm not doing anything different each time but I guess with a bunch of repetition I'll get a better "feel" for them. also I finally got the torso how I wanted before Gimmy's post was up so I have one more female nude to show before I stop. I'm glad I'm happy with this version or stopping them for a bit would be more annoying

Ahh losing posts is no fun Yeah that makes sense that the current upside down exercise would be focused more on seeing then on then on feeling. So when I'm doing construction should I not be looking at a model photo at all? Just trying to construct the figure from the inside out as apposed to how I am doing it now, drawing along the edges? I'll start practicing basic volume primitives and real life objects (this means just like drawing apples and my cell phone and stuff right?) For drawing these primitives and real objects should I still just be line drawing or should I be trying to add value to them to? I'm glad you posted some more stuff to do next as I felt like I was kinda stagnating with the upside down drawings. Also this week I'm at my parents house so I'll be doing pen and paper practice instead of the usual tablet drawings. I'll try to scan some of them but that takes way more time then just tablet drawing so I probably won't be updating every week this week but rest assured I am practicing every day!

Another upside downer. I think I'm going to making it so the opacity of my lines is also effected by the pressure I'm using as well as just thickness. Arg I messed up the legs :/ ...
