I found it a little odd, however, that any creature would consider its own eyes massive. Especially since they are small in proportion to his body.
But this was a dream of the narrator's. He's describing what happened at a time when he's awake, and not a tentacle monster. The eye's would be pretty big in comparison to his at that time.

That's not necessarily the impression I got. I knew that this was a dream, but the fact that the narrator described the world as "alien" and didn't know what balloons are, well I assumed that he/she was always a tentacle monster.
I think at that point he's trying to narrate what it was like being a tentacle monster, but during the dream the character he played was not him, and did not have his memories of balloons and such.

It all depends on the person, I suppose.

God, I hope tiny robots become the next big meme here.

I'm thinkin' boomsticks. Game needs more boomsticks.
YES
You should gain the ability to caber toss at some point.
VERY YES
It needs to be a bear 'em up.
OH SO VERY YES

It needs to be a beat 'em up. Life needs more beat 'em ups.

Per Fishyboys request.

Awesome. Does this mean you'll pixel whenever I tell you too?
567  Developer / Art / Re: Charming Games (image heavy!) on: November 01, 2008, 03:08:19 PM

VERY YES

This game came along right as I went on a huge trip. It was a life saver, and I love it like a son.

The psuedo 3D in that game was so awesome. I want to make a platformer with that idea of 2D graphics mixed with 3D gameplay. (That is also why I love beat 'em ups. The possibilities of 3D combined with the simplicity of 2D.)

Like my first pixelart ever. Constructive ciriticism, anyone?
That is excellent.

CRITICISM: You're not doing MORE.

Golden Axe = VERY YES

The Castlevania one is also great.

In a dark future where love between cats and bunnies jaguars AND LYNXES is strictly forbidden, you, Trevor McFur, dare to break the law. Banished to the desert of floating skeletons, can you reunite with your lost love?

It'll be like a very campy Seiklus.

Edited for Gainsworthy!

This actually looks isometric. Smiley
Hooray!
The only problem I see with it is that the... knives? in his hands should be lower when we see his face, higher when we see his back, and in between when we see him from the side. Right now they appear to be jerking all over the place.

Like this?

They're chainsaws, but I can't blame you for not knowing. It should be more apparent when there's sound.

EDIT: SquirrelSquid, that looks like a pixelated gold mine. Except with love instead of gold.

Edit: Nevermind, I hate this new thing I've made already. LOL
Bu-bu-but it's so cute!  Sad

Well, when I started this I didn't have as strict as a definition of isometric.

I'm happy with it at this point, and I'd like to thank you all again for the feedback.

Revision the third! I did a little comparison to the FFT sprites, and apart from my sprite being utter crap, it didn't look too bad!

I'd like to thank you guys for all the feedback, it's a big help.
575  Developer / Art / Re: show us some of your pixel work on: October 30, 2008, 07:11:44 PM

Is this any better?
576  Developer / Art / Re: show us some of your pixel work on: October 30, 2008, 04:05:56 PM
ya, its not isometric.
Fine.

It's isometresque.

I was thinking of the Mario and Luigi games, as in the psuedo-3D RPGs, when I did the perspective.

not to mention 'retro' from dead leaves of course Beer!
Definitely. I think Retro is the character who made me realize that I love monitor heads.  Beer!
578  Developer / Art / Re: Preferred art styles and why? on: October 30, 2008, 03:18:41 PM
I like vibrant colors and high contrast (as found in cel-shading, but also in pixel art), exaggerated proportions, smooth lines and curves, sharp angles and straight lines (either/or, that is), unified palettes, and spontaneity in design.

Loved the looks of Jet Grind Radio, Wind Waker, Metroid: Zero Mission, Viewtiful Joe, Pikmin, Viva Pinata, and No More Heroes.

<3 Ditto

It's an isometric little guy for a game I'm doing.

Feedback?

Also, doing a walk animation for this will be nightmarish.

in 3ds max 7 (i'm old school like that)
Awesome.

I have sort of a design fetish for characters with monitors for faces. Canti, the Mondo characters, etc.
