Hah, excellent, I've got three games in Qbasic one :D

Man, I miss working on Minigames...
1703  Player / Games / Re: FreeBASIC Games Directory on: June 30, 2007, 04:43:16 PM
Excellent! There are a few high rated games I haven't played yet. It would be nice if a default screenshot was shown on each project page, but other than that I think it's a great website. Cheers for putting it together!

I started out with Qbasic, so FreeBASIC looks really really interesting to me. I'm seriously considering it for my next project. Smiley

Another game worth looking at that Lachie didn't mention is Kingdoms.

I played that a few weeks ago (Vigil, right?)

It's certainly got an interesting graphical style, but unfortunately the game itself needs a reworking. It's a real shame - clearly a lot of work went into other parts of it.

Thanks Derek, that was a fantastic read! Smiley I'm quitting my job quite soon to try and make a shareware game, so this is basically the frame of mind I'm in at the moment. Though every so often I worry that I'm making a huge mistake.

Then I read something like this, and it cheers me right up. In fact, I feel downright optimistic! So again, thanks Derek!  Kiss

When I last played it there was no "main scenario", and the entire game looked totally different. I was actually floored when I upgraded to the new version. I mean, you've already sold me a copy of your game. There aren't a lot of people that would put so much work into upgrading an existing product!
1708  Community / Townhall / Re: The Obligatory Introduce Yourself Thread on: June 26, 2007, 02:53:21 PM
Ohh, I liked the Strategist. Simple, fun, well designed.

Make more scenarios!  Cool :D

[Edit: BLOODY HELL that game's changed a lot since I last played it - it's like a, I dunno, a remake or something.]
1709  Player / General / Re: Your favorite game series on: June 23, 2007, 09:59:49 AM
There are a number of series that I buy every game of, but by far my favorite is Pheonix Wright.

I love Phoenix Wright! (who would have guessed?) But I've only played the first two, so I can't really think of it as a "series". (Not yet anyway - apparently the next one is the best of the lot, and from what I've read the new Japanese one is incredibly popular).

So I don't really know what my favourite series is - I really like Final Fantasy, but only 4 through to 8, and I really like Silent Hill, but only the second one... And like "moi" I love the old Bioware games, but I didn't like Neverwinter Nights and I haven't liked anything they've done since.

Come to think of it, I can't think of any series of games that's been consistently good. Cry

Well hey, you guys are lucky. I take it instead of learning to program, you've taught yourself how to produce music on a computer (something I'm hopeless at, despite being an alrite guitar player) or how to make pixel art (something I'm just hopeless at, full stop). You don't really *need* to be able to code to make games. Believe me, it's like, the least important part of the whole thing.

I have a demonoid account. I've never heard of joost but it sounds like a fair swap Smiley

You turn into a giant, hideous blob. Guess that's the end of Neo Tokyo.

You start to wonder where this is all going.

Wow, this is really good! (Surprisingly so, to be honest.) I think it's his best yet. The little mini games really make it...

I'm going to buy the full version.

I enjoyed Democracy, but not so much Kudos. I'll give this a try later on.

It's encouraging to see someone making these type of games and being successful at it - i.e. concept driven, low content requirement stuff.

Thank you so much for that :D

I only understood you as far as wanting to have sex.

>have a wank in MacGyver's hair

You do not currently possess "a wank".

Now what?

Derek's corpse now lies compromisingly on top of your own, his right arm wrapped around your waist.

Score: +100, Total 101 out of 10,000 points

You feel dizzy, and then, moments later, nothing at all.

** YOU HAVE DIED **

Would you like to RESTART, RESTORE a saved game, or QUIT?
>restart

You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door.
There is a small mailbox here. A sign nearby reads "MANLOVE CAMPING".

On the blood drenched ground, you can see your corpse. Its upper arms appear to be hideously infected.

You blink. Boarded? You came all this way and the door is boarded?

Is this supposed to be some sort of game?
