I really like Processing. It is simple It is easy, and it is Programming from scratch. But many tools are given to speed up you development. But at the moment I am trying to understand ODE, so that i can have physics in my Games. ODE has Java bindings, so I hope that I can combine those two, and then the rapid game prototyping can begin  Gentleman

I'll be back in game development as soon as I have mastered physics.

I am not happy, because I want to have physics in my Games, but I do not understand anything of those ODE (open dynamics engine) demos  Hand Shake Left Mock Anger Hand Shake Right

Noting can be copyrighted  Big Laff except the characters. Every game is at least 90% stolen.
Giana sisters is the only exception of the rule.

Open Dynamics Engine

My skills:
C/C++
OpenGL
simple 2D physics

but all the ODE demos are all so  Huh?
I need help Beg

very confusing is drawstuff. It takes all the parts, I might understand, out of the demo.

Yea I grew up with Settlers of Catan. My version of the game is more than 10 years old. I still like to play that game.

Last year I was on "Role Play Convention" in Münster(Germany). There was a Complete Area only for boardgames. We could test new games and of course buy them. But too sad that I can't remember the name of the game I played there  Cry But it was very cool.

It is not one of those super hard games. It is still playable without quicksave.

216  Developer / Technical / Re: Developers using GNU/Linux? on: January 14, 2009, 02:37:45 AM
Does anyone here develop on GNU/Linux Wizard ? What does your toolchain look like? What video card do you use/recommend?

I'm having a hell of a time getting my environment set up, primarily due to being unable to get my video card to to 3D rendering properly (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro). So I'm thinking about buying a better supported one. Suggestions?

I had that card too on my Desktop PC. Now I am only using my Laptop because in my new home there is no space for my desktop PC. Tough my laptop as an ATI card too. The support is not the best, but i was able to get the thing working.

Back in the time when i used C++ I worked with Netbeans, because it was simply the best. I tried the other IDEs too, but non of them (Eclipse Code::Blocks KDevelop Ajunta) worked good enough.

Now I always use Processing, it really is great.

hope I could help you

PS as soon as I have new hardware Radeon won't be with it
217  Developer / Technical / Re: SDL - too low-level? on: January 14, 2009, 01:29:41 AM
I have used SDL a few times, but it was somehow to slow on my Linux PC. Then I learned OpenGL, but that was very complicated to setup. I used GLFW for the part wich is not included in OpenGL (window, input image loading). But since I know Processing, I never want to use any of the libraries above Again. It is fast platform independent (because it is Java), and you can easiely  embed it into webpages. I know it is not C anymore, but  Shrug

I have testet it with wine. It works, but lightning traps are invisible. Its luck weather you survive or not.
219  Player / General / Re: Talk about Diablo 3. on: January 10, 2009, 05:05:03 PM
you need to play diablo soulreaver and all those dark games on an old CRT monitor. The new LCD don't support real black, they are simply not dark enought.
220  Developer / Technical / Re: Clean blitting help on: January 10, 2009, 04:50:03 AM
The thing is, if your choise is DirectX, you are only able to develop for platforms where Microsoft has already has its operating system supporting directX. The fact is, you are dependant of Microsoft. This is the Independat Gaming Source, I don't think beeing dependant of anyone is compatible with the spirit of developing independant games. If your decision is OpenGL, then you are dependant of it, but OpenGL is open source, and can be implementet on any platform by any company.

This is my reason not to implement Games in DirectX.
