Thanks for replies!

P.S. I will strive to fit better into next competition`s mood and feel

Is it just me or does the cockpit seem more like just a HUD?  Shrug
May be :D But good cockpit should be a HUD too? my point: there is nothing else except "control point" of gravity machine in question, even game field is draw inside its monitor... so this is cockpit - a place where you sit face-to-face with some kind of device and do the stuff. May be by "painting skills" (i don`t have any Cry ) are not high enough for depicting such idea

Work in progress:
9  Community / Cockpit Competition / [FINISHED] Grav defender on: February 24, 2009, 06:25:25 PM
This is going to be mini-entry.
Year 4242. Earth is not the same we know by this days: planet surface is spoiled and humanity  in hi-tech cities above the clouds. The surface under the clouds is inhabited with evil robots. You are simple guy that operates gravity machine to protect your flying city from meteors and other hazardous stuff. But in one of the days enemy ship suddenly occured in vicinity of your area. Of course, the first thing it started to do is to shoot at civilian objects with missiles and stuff. Now its your turn Smiley

This will be 2d entry featuring some sort of puzzle-physics action from the cockpit (control panel) of this gravity machine.

Stay tuned! Smiley

UPD: playable version, 4 levels

Sounds cool! And looks cool too Smiley
Markov chains are FTW too! Smiley

2chutup: time travels, brilliant!!! Smiley I have to think about it! Smiley)))

Accelerators are moved by mouse, player can drag`n`drop them everywhere. i already implemented seed generation from player-provided string (player is asked to enter level name) and added some stats (so it is possible to make final hit speed on specific level better than friend`s result)
New demo wiil be ready soon! Smiley

Decided to rewrite this game... Now it will be rhythm-based logic puzzle about...
THE LARGE HADRON COLLIDER! (http://lhc.web.cern.ch/lhc/) Smiley

You have 6 magnetic particle accelerators, bullet-particle and target-particle and Start button. Each accelerator create forces on bullet-particle according to PG-generated rhytm (unique per accelerator, so overall music will generate interesting drum "solo". Each beat apply distinctive directional force on particle). So you have to arrange accelerators in such a pattern that force "beats" from accelerators will move bullet-particle into target. If it will have enough speed at the end of the fly, there is a chance to produce micro-black-hole (if you didn`t hear about LHC, read it here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_Hadron_Collider#Safety_concerns)

Something like "The incredible machines" Smiley
What you think?

P.S. sorry for my English... may it is too hard for me to explain this in simple words Smiley

Idea is really cool!!!
16  Community / Procedural Generation / Re: DrumDream [DEMO] on: May 13, 2008, 07:23:30 PM
Yes, i agree with you... it`s a bit underdeveloped. I think to change whole think into Shmup Smiley debris will be enemies, controlled by rhythm against player. Something like that, need to check this first of course.
For now i started to implement another game (will be posted soon) - about driving in the car through PG-generated city... with a twist!
17  Community / Procedural Generation / Re: DrumDream [DEMO] on: May 13, 2008, 01:59:33 AM
Thanks! About lags - Demo requiring good CPU since there is a lot of colliding objects, floating debris... They are also pushing player into some directions, which helps sometimes... and sometimes not.
This game more of a concept. I`ll try to change mechanics later, but for now i`m working on new entry with clearer and cool idea Smiley

Updated with screenshot and demo.
Although gameplay is quite random, i think i`ll start another game for this compo instead of twiking this one.

BTW, what name sounds better for conceptual PG-game entry: "The world is what you think of it" or "Kastaneda`s jump"?
19  Community / Procedural Generation / Large Hydron Collider [FINISHED] [was: DrumDream] on: May 08, 2008, 04:32:14 AM
This is semi-logical puzzle about colliding particles using magnetic accelerators. Each accelerator produce impulse to particle using unique pattern. Player should arrange accelerators (using mouse and drag-and-drop mysteries) in such a way that combined impulse send particle into target.

Each accelerator has it`s own time to charge before producing magnetic impulse, so player should keep in mind timings. Charging accelerators produce sound which is combined into level-unique ambient rhytm.

And remeber: powerful collision can produce micro black hole that can destroy our Earth in one moment Sad

Wow! Sounds cool Smiley

I`m too planning to use mp3-based generation for the game for this entry but failed to find good sound analizing library (since there is no chance to do it from scratch in month for me alone...) for now.
