Right, so... London Indies Indie developers meet and greet and be merry and discuss the Indie Condition. :-) Tomorrow in the Crown in Islington in London. Starting at 3pm. (I may be there earlier though) http://www.fancyapint.com/pubs/pub513.phpI will be wearing a Darth Vader/ Pink Floyd T-Shirt (Distinctive clothing is encouraged) See you there! :-D

I reckon I will stay fairly long. There are some decent bus connections to Angel btw, and you can even walk to St Pancras in about 30 mins max if that is of any use?

Well, if enough people want to come despite the strike I won't reschedule of course! I planned to start 2 or 3 pm anyway so at least there won't be an issue getting there. :-)

Thanks Inc.! Nice one :-D
This is the first one of a monthly informal, "meet and greet and be merry and celebrate indie game dev" social thingee. Nothing too serious, but if you do any indie game dev and you fancy meeting up with like minded souls do drop by. :-)
It may be fun to make yourselff somewhat recognisable as an indie developer. Up to you how to do that. :-D

Tyrone is a really nice guy imo. Without prompting he has been very generous to me with advice and support on numerous occasions to do with surviving as an indie, and none of his help included suggestions that were unethical, greedy, mean or disrespectful to players/customers or other devs.
Top bloke in my book.

Interesting discussion...
Sometimes I think Failure isn't even the right term in this context. I think it is all about the ability to find your own solutions and have your own voice. Yes sometimes this doesn't work, although often it does but rubs against existing conventions. Where things become really painful though is when an audience starts attacking the problems or idiosyncracies of an indie game in a deeply personal way. As if they themselves have been slighted. I don't understand the excessive anger that some people feel towards an artistic creation, simply because they didn't enjoy it. There is something very uncomfortable in some of the more extreme reactions I think.. a need to dish out retribution for a perceived crime...
Just to be clear though, I am not saying criticism isn't valid, or healthy, but I do think there are people who have a strange attitude towards what they are owed as an audience.
