Maybe it'll end up being like Valkyria Chronicles:

I haven't played it myself but it seems like it mixes third-person shooter and turn-based strategy pretty well.
Wow! that looks amazing!  Crazy

Pity it's only for PS3...

Valkyria Chronicles 2 is out later this year on PSP i think.

I hope I can make this (missed the last two) - will know for sure a bit nearer to the date.

So I want the background to be darker, but I suck at choosing colors soo... Can anyone help?

does this help at all? also - have you thought of removing the white outlines? I did a quick example with the caterpillar dudes, and switched the black to a dark blue.

I think if you have a link (as you do) under your posts - it's good if it leads onto a working page, as when it doesn't it can leave a negative 1st impression to people who don't already know you.

If you are willing to try Amiga games -

Turrican
Turrican2 (avoid ver3)
Benefactor -

Rainbow islands (also great on pc engine)
The Newzealand story (also great on pc engine and megadrive)
Prince of Persia
James Pond 3
Flashback
Anotherworld

The front page seems fine to me. There's a variety of news posted, and it feels considered rather than spamming up every bit of possible indie related news that might be out there.

Yes you get some crazy nutters in the comments sections sometimes, but that's just the internet for you.
508  Player / Games / Re: Desktop Dungeons Tileset Sharing! on: March 25, 2010, 02:55:08 PM
What program do you guys use to save the tilesets with transparencies? I tried opening them up to edit in regular MS Paint or whatever and it just saves the borders as solid white. Even still in the .png format.

Photoshop /Gimp (which is free - http://www.gimp.org/) / PaintshopPro should all work fine to let you save a png with transparency (draw on a clear layer, then just save without indexing it).

This is a cool game, but is it insanely hard or is it just me being rubbish? I cant seem to finish the snake pit level Cry

I'm sure if enough people politely emailed Nicalis (ranting complaints wont help) with their concerns, they may be persuaded to release DLC that puts back the old dialogue.

Can't hurt to try.

Is there a Wiiware demo of it? (does Wiiware do demos yet?... I haven't turned on the wii for months)

When you say "Flash -> Android Port" - are you just looking to redo the artwork?

Fun game by the way! (just wish I could smoothly zoom in and out with the mouse wheel)

I think there may be danger of overfeeding...

one tip for your website - don't use big images then scale them down to fit. It's wasteful and makes pages take longer to load.

I think it helps to use a spell checker - and as Oddball says, make it a bit clearer whether you are talking from experience, or just hypothesising.

I think flight prices generally get upped across the whole month of December. (I remember being able to keep the price down by flying out on the 30th of Nov one time).

Though anyone coming over from Europe could buy lots of cheap presents to take home thanks to the rubbishly weak pound. Wink

520  Developer / Business / Re: selling games on usb sticks? on: August 22, 2009, 01:31:03 PM
the main advantage of usb sticks over cds is that usb sticks are useful for something besides holding the game. they're just a lot more expensive too

I like the idea of them (usb sticks) being usable after the game has been installed/discarded, but personally anything less than 1GB would be useless to me and so end up as more clutter in the draw/desk (like old 128MB camera cards I have, impractical in modern cameras really).

I guess usb sticks could work well made in short runs as marketing gimmicks, but for games that already have some good marketing (so folks that spot the usb stick go `oh that game - cool, must pop to the shops to buy that later`).
If folks dont know about game X, then seeing a usb stick with some name on it won't mean anything to them.

Ideally any physical media should be fully recyclable! Compost-able cds, now there's an idea Wink
