I've got a USB thingy that can use either a PS2 or N64 controller as joypad input. I use it with a cheap 3rd-party PS2 controller that's currently giving up the ghost.
maybe trying the rumblepad 2 if you want to buy a new one... works just great.

Chainsaw (working title)http://www.can-games.com/can-games , that are currently developing project torpedo (platformer with a horse as the main character) announced that they also creating a new exploration platformer. the game has nothing to do with chainsaws (by creating new games they choose random names as the working titles) "The new game is an exploration platformer type game where you are a guy on an island who has animal companions to help him. You cannot attack enemies directly, but you can attack by using your animal companions. This will hopefully make the game a bit different from other platformers like it."

I also have that controller, it's awesome. I think it has a better feel than any of the console controllers.
yeah, fine controller! comes pretty close to the ps2 controller.

Platform Shmup (You are forced to keep running in one direction, basically) Eh? One of the common elements in a scrolling shmup is the forced-scrolling part. Basically, it would be like any platformer but you are forced to move in a certain direction. You could move forward and back and jump and such, but you could not come to a complete stop. This is actually accomplished in a lot of platformers during a chase / vehicle section. Basically, it's a rail shooter. Gunstar Heroes gets pretty close. There are vehicle sections and other bits where you're pushed through, but other bits where you can stop. It is probably more fun than pushing you around constantly, though. Also, I'm just now realizing no one has made Warning Forever in a platformer. It would basically be Black's level over and over again, which would be pretty cool. Actually, has anyone heard of a game that takes pretty direct influence from Gunstar Heroes? I've heard of The Red Star for the PS2 but haven't tried it yet (but probably should). viewtiful joe(ps2, gc) has also some similarities... and silhouette mirage (psx, saturn)

interesting. mosh do you know what in evereternal winterworld causes a extreme low framerate. (some others having the same problem as well) its like constant slowmotion. its unplayable that way... Runs fine for me personally. Maybe contact someone from Silvernova with your specs and let them know. allright...sent him a mail. Hey, I'm the guy that made EEWW! Tim forwarded me your email, which is why I'm here (on my account that I abandoned...). I was under the impression that no-one was ever going to play that game again (lol), so I haven't got around to fixing the framerate issues - they only occur on some computers, and none that I have access to - but I know why it happens, and I have a test level running that doesn't drop a single frame, so right now you've inspired me to go through the whole game and fix it Should be done in a couple hours, then I can get back to the sequel :D. I'll post back here when I have a fixed version uploaded! nice, thats very kind.
