It looks like CB2 could be quite busy on Saturday. Ukuncut are meeting there that morning before their protest.

I think my lifetime could have been measured in milliseconds...

I hadn't realised this Ludum Dare thingy was so frequent.

I shall be there!

I hit a couple of bugs.

If I put in 0 as my skill in an area, it gave me the same prompt again, but took the value I put in as input for the next skill area.

I seemed to get stuck on the audio minigame. I just had a red dot on the left of the screen, some drum noises, and no way I could figure out to interact.

I quite enjoyed it once I got going, but it gave a really bad first impression with the non-interactive tutorial. It even made windows turn on sticky keys because I was repeatedly pressing shift. Can you not make it a proper interactive tutorial room or two? You can probably leave some concepts like gems = score and the number of gems per room for people to intuit themselves, too.

The stop/start motion was intentional. It was meant to be like a darting motion. I liked it, anyway.

They are clearly not the most competent swimmers, though, hence the title of that little toy.

I'm going to be using the fish-themed toy I made at TIGJam as my starting point. I had been working on it a week or two ago to add a submarine avatar to it. Going to replace that with something hopefully much weirder.

Edit: Ok, weirdo avatar movement is already more fun than the submarine was.

I'm still not quite sure what the player's avatar is going to be in this world of butterfies, jellyfish and chandeliers.

That is a brilliant title.

Twilight TV

Description

I'm not sure if I'll have the time to do this, but I really want to.

Twilight TV is what you will sometimes see when you turn on your television alone at a precise time of night and stare at the static until morning.

This will be a game about exploring a dreamlike alien world, moving through an environment that alternately seems as thin and gaseous as air and as heavy and liquid as water, populated by the weirdest creatures.

No death, no goal, just an atmosphere of wonder and terror.

The weekend was a lot of fun, and working alongside others definitely kept me more focused.

I finished my game, gave it a title of 'Isolated', and uploaded it for the competition here.
Was very experimental. Still not sure how well it worked.

Thanks for the company, everyone.  And extra thanks to Dock and Perrin for all the Unity tips I picked up!

I've been debating today whether I can actually afford to spend this weekend working on something other than my university assignments (due in 2 weeks, rather stressed about them).

If I am going to do it, I'm going to aim to arrive at CB2 a little after 10am.
I live somewhat near Cambridge - it takes me an hour to get there on the bus. So I'll probably just stay until the last late bus back, go home, sleep, then come in again the next morning.

Saturday!

That was very helpful, thank you. Smiley

Starting 2-3am on Saturday? Or Friday?

The Ludum Dare website seems sparse on details.

When does the competition start/end?

I played two games of this today.

I played Bobsy's thief scenario: http://sidtube.com/gallery/212/
And Poisoned Sponge's post-apocalyptic desert story: http://sidtube.com/gallery/209/

Other playthroughs of the same stories:

Lokijki, would you be willing to play your scenario with some of the people here?

I've not done a Ludum Dare before either.

But I'll come!
20  Community / Jams & Events / Re: TIGJam UK3! on: April 08, 2010, 08:45:17 AM
I'd love to come to this. I didn't find out about the last one until too late, which was frustrating, considering how close I live to Cambridge.
