1  Jobs / Offering Paid Work / Website Design Request [PAID] on: May 04, 2010, 06:36:45 AM
Hi All,

I'm currently starting a new website for my games. I'm after a website design in Photoshop that is along the lines of a traditional action comic book. I'm not particularly good at coming up with artistic designs etc (i'm a coder rather than artist) so i'd be happy to leave you with a fair amount of artistic license. My main sticking points would be that it uses a fairly light pallette and is not dark and unwelcoming for any visitors. I would like a few comic book characters to be used in the design as well as a logo (name of company will be disclosed to the designer I choose).

What do I need from you?
Firstly, some of your previous work would be a good start. It doesn't have to be web design it can be any manner of your work. What i'm looking for here is a style I like and also proof that you can complete a project.

As I said above, I would like the design in Photoshop format and also a splash screen (using the same artwork if you would like) 800x600 for use in my games.

I'd obviously like a few quick draft designs as well, so I can choose which I like best.

What do you get from me?
I'm willing to part with $150 USD for the right person. $50 to be paid when half the work is complete and the rest upon delivery.

Please PM me if you're interested!

Thanks,

Steve Harris

Hi All,

Just a quick note to let you know that we've finally released Turning The Tide. You can download a copy of the demo here: http://www.turningthetide.info/getgame.php

Quick info about the game:-

Welcome to January 1945 the critical turning point of World War II. The Nazis march towards total world domination is gathering pace. The Allied forces are at breaking point and new plans are being hatched to halt the seemingly impossible Nazi war machine and turn the tide towards an all out victory for the Allied forces.

YOU have been handpicked to carry out solo missions of vital importance to military command. Carry these out successfully and you will turn the tide towards an all out Allied victory.

FLY, SHOOT, SWOOP, BOMB, DEPTH CHARGE AND STRAFE
Go from flying covert ops to taking part in a dogfight over London to destroying enemy radar stations and weapons factories.

Send enemy soldiers flying with strategically placed bombs or sending them diving for cover whilst strafing their encampments!

Fight and destroy submarines, planes, tanks, blimps, boats, landing ships and more through 14 levels of action-packed fun!

Full version of the game costs just USD $10. There will be physical boxed versions of the game available for $25 plus postage once I get round to updating the order form page.

Thanks,

Steve

Are there any existing games you can think of that share this model? Maybe their EULA's would be a start.

Sorry that's what I meant Embarrassed

Would it not be a good idea to read through an EULA for an already released game?

Yes it does make it a lot easier now. Level editor is finished, so will be putting together the beta this week for any willing testers.

Thanks Sparky I really appreciate the amount of thought you've put in to your post.

I love the idea about the engine noise and the angle of the plane when going up and down and i'll implement those today I think.

All the other ideas are good too and i'll look in to slowing the enemy planes down as you have a good point.

Agree with you about the GUI. I think the trouble is i've changed it so many times and there are obviously remnants of other styles in there that i've forgotten to take out or update.

Would welcome anyone elses comments too... Gentleman

EDIT: Engine pitch added

I'll look in to the GUI suggestion thanks Smiley

If you're running out of time, I'd consider throwing out 2 levels just so you can make the remaining levels more lively.  Also work on your special effects.  I want to see lots of different types of explosions, rubble and shrapnel flying about... I want to see alpha-transparent smoke that looks like smoke and not smoke rings.  I want to see soldiers that get thrown into the air, that duck for cover, etc.  These are the kinds of details that will grab a potential customer and force him (or her) to put money down for your game.

All those points Derek suggested above have been implemented and IMO look bloody good.

I have asked my artist to do one or two bits on the GFX but to be honest I think he's getting fed up with the project and I don't think i'll be able to get him to do too many more changes.

I do have a sequel planned but I think i'll need to find a new artist... should be fun!

Hi All,

I've uploaded a new beta for you all to try out. This is a beta of the full game and comes with all the levels unlocked for you to try out as well as the induction and tutorial.

All that's left to do now is for the game complete sequence and the game over screen to be drawn by my GFX chap as well as some minor graphical changes I need him to do.

BTW if you're running Vista, you'll need to manually install the font file found in the 'data' folder of the zip.

http://www.turningthetide.info/downloads/TurningTheTide.zip - password is 'bfg'.

Thanks and hope you enjoy it!
